Swollen ankles

Swollen ankles

At times my ankles are very swollen, today is the worst they have ever been. They actually hurt.  I am 26 weeks pregnant and I am very worried what they are going to look like near the end of my pregnancy.  My blood pressure today is 122/78-which is good but why are my ankles so swollen??  I try to watch my salt intake and I drink enough.  Has anyone else been this bad??  I can't wear socks because they leave a bad indentation.

I have the same problem.  With my 5 year old DD I started swelling at 15 weeks and stayed that way until I have her.  My BP was always normal.  With this DD the same thing is happening, only earlier, it started around 8-9 weeks and some days are bad where you can see the fluid gathering around my nuckles and bones in my feet and some days it is not that bad, but I can't wear any of my socks eaither.  I think some people just swell or retain water or something.

Hey.. I'm sorry your swelling. I haven't experienced this yet (i just have things like my roids swell..lol sorry I couldnt resist..) I've heard that if you drink LOTS of water, it actually reduces swelling and your body wont retain it.  Not sure how true it is but it doesnt hurt to try.  What does your dr say?

I just wrote to you and it didnt show up..Ughh!
Anyway, I heard that if you drink LOTS of water, it will help your body not retain water. I'm not sure how true it is but it wont hurt to try.  Does your Dr say your ok besides the swelling?  One of my coworkers who was pregnant had bad swelling. And  unfortunately it lasted til the baby was born (if you ask me, she still looked swollen 2 months later).

Swollen ankles are so common trying laying on your left side with your legs elevated that will give somw relief, wacth your salt intake, soda and so on it should get better then worse its up and down all the time.

My doctor wasn't concerned at my last visit because my blood pressure is ok. I go again on Tuesday so I will see what they say.  I usually see a midwife and they are always so busy and running behind that my appointments are so rushed.

I had pitting edema with my ds.  I swelled everywhere, but never had high blood pressure.

Try to elevate your feet as much as possible.  Also lay on your left side with your feet raised.

Do simple stretches to get the fluid moving, like going up an down on your toes.

Avoid salty foods and things with artifical sweeteners, colours, flavours and preservatives.  Drink lots of water.
