Swollen feet at 18 weeks?

Swollen feet at 18 weeks?

Is it normal to have swelling in my feet this early? I read it usually only happens in the third trimester.Should I worry?

I am 36-- and seeing that I am having earlier, and worse symptoms than I did with my pregnancies that I had in my 20's!!

I started getting swelling around 24 wks (before the third trimester), and I'm 35.  My OB said that you could get it earlier, and agreeing with the other poster, if you have no other issues, it is ok.  Just try to sleep on your left side, drink plenty of fluids and watch the salt intake.  All of that really helps.  Take care!

Hi Heather,

I'm so relieved to hear you are okay. But the morning sickness isn't fun, is it?
I am glad to finally be over that. Although I still will gag and retch if something is really stinky. I don't throw up though.Yours should be over soon! Hang in there! Remember it means baby is healthy!!!

We find out the sex of the baby on April 24. My two little girls (9 and 11) are so cute--counting down the days with one of those paper chains that they made, with pink and blue paper strips!

I don't have the swelling today--but maybe it happens at the end of the day.
I called my Dr today and they said it's normal.

I was always very swollen during my pregnancy.  But the thing about swelling is you have to be very careful.  It could lead to pre-eclampsia later on in pregnancy.  What I used to do was make sure when I was at work that I put my feet up on a box.  I drank a ton of water and ate less salty foods.  They also sell panty hose that are surgical binding, that will hold in the swelling.  I would definitely talk to your doctor about it though so they can monitor you.  Also, what would help me keep down the swelling was doing aqua aerobics and walking on the treadmill.
