I recently miscarried and have never had a child before. Had D&C on 12/8. My hCG was at 600 on 12/7. Can I get pregnant with levels still that high? Don't know much about this stuff so any advice would be helpful.
I don't think you will ovulate with levels that high. You CAN get pregnant before AF returns. I had a D&C on Sept. 15 with no AF since. I am now 7W 1 D pregnant! Good luck to you.
Congrats! I was told to wait until 1-3 AF to ttc, but I just wanted to know how this worked. I want to give my body time to recover before ttc again and I didn't know if I could ovulate with levels still that high. Thanks for your reply!! :)
Ok, so is it possible to "O" and not have AF before my numbers go down to zero? I'm just wondering if I'll "O" so I can try and take precautions. Sorry...it's confusing. I hope you can figure out what I'm asking.
I agree. I'll definitely wait until the levels go down completely, but I just didn't know if I could get preg. (I'm not wanting to) between now and then. Guess we'd better wrap it until then! :)
My old doc actually totally me that I couldn't get preg before I got am AF. SURPRISE! She was an idiot!
Good luck! Just stay positive! It's so easy to get discouraged (at least it was for me...I thought I would never have children) but when you're preg again in a couple of months, you'll know that it was all just in the cards.
Yes, it is possible to O and not have AF. I don't know for sure, but I would guess the numbers have to drop down pretty low so your body will realize it's not longer pregnant and will O again. I'm not much help. Sorry.
sorry to be so complicated, but it's confusing! I didn't realize I would "O" w/o AF. I just figured if I "O" then I should expect AF shortly! :) Thanks for the clarification.
My hcg always dropped really fast (but it never got all that high either so it didn't have far to go). So I think I did ovulate and get AF once the numbers were below 5.
Are you sure that it was AF when levels were still at 300?? Did you have a D&C or did you do it naturally? Just wondering if your presumed A/F was actually residual from the M/C. That's what I've been having, not AF although it's VERY confusing because mine came at exactly 28 days later as well. Just a thought. GOOD LUCK!!!! It seems as though there are no wrong or right answers!! HA! Frustrating... :)
I believe that it was AF. I had a medical MC at 9 weeks (baby ~7 weeks). I bled for 2 weeks, but the last week or so was mostly just spottingVaginal bleeding between periods (sfter passing tissue at 4 days past medical). I stopped bleeding for 2 weeks and then had a fairly normal AF...my levels were in the 300s.
I don't know how to make the distinction between leftover MC and AF, especially since it was so similar to my normal cycle.
Is it just b/c my levels were still over 5? You can have an AF w/o ovulating so I assume that even though I couldn't ovulate until my HCG dropped <5, I could still have AF.
But...I seem to have read another poster saying they got pregnant before their level dropped that low...I didn't think that was possible so now I'm getting more confused.
I go in a couple of days to see where my levels are now -- they should be close to 0.

My doc said I wouldn't get AF until my levels dropped to below 5 and wouldn't ovulate until it dropped below five as well.
I got my AF (presumably w/o ovulating) 4 weeks to the day of my MC when my HCG was still in the 300s.
Just wondering if she is also wrong about not ovulating...did you ovulate before your HCG had dropped to negative?
Thanks!
