Tailbone Injury

Tailbone Injury

Back in August I had a bike accident and realy really really hurt my tailbone.  It was not cracked or broken, but I had to get prescription painkillers from the doctor because i had trouble even getting up from sitting.  After about two months, the tailbone pain started to subside to almost nothing.

This past week (I am now 7 weeks), I have noticed my tailbone pain returning with a vengeance.  It's not as bad as the initial injury, but there is definitely discomfort when I sit and standing up from sitting in any position makes me wince.

Has anyone else gone through this before?  Is my tailbone injury going to make labour more painful?  Is there anything I can do to alleviate the pain? Any other insights into this??

I have the same problem.  I had a tailbone issue in Junior High/High School.  I to went to the doctor.  It quit hurting and I never gave it another thought.  Well, I am now 23 weeks and my tailbone is giving me trouble.  I dont notice it is hurting until I try to get up.  BOY, it hurts then.  I wrote on this forum about it some time ago.  Most of the responses I got say it is normal during pregnancy and not to worry.  As far as it making labor more difficult, I dont know.  I guess I will have to wait and see.  Good Luck!

I have a tailbone problem to.  In Jr High someone decided to pull my chair out from under me as I plopped down and I landed on a cement floor.  Well 2 yrs later I was in a PE class and fell backwards on it and actually heard a pop. I never did have it looked at but I was miserable.  Well my first pg I do not remember it bothering me and it was only a little sore with my second.  Labor had no effect on it though.  I find now though that if I want to exercise it hurts.  I ordered Windsor Pilates and find it is very hard because it is all on the floor.  I hope all goes well with everything.  If your tailbone does bother you all I can say is EPIDURAL.  Good Luck

I broke my tailbone when I was 13, had 2 sons and broke it again when I was 30 (don't ask). After that had a daughter at age 36.  I had pain for a few weeks after I broke it, but it went away until I got pregnant...and every pregnancy was worse.  I could not gave normal birth because of that and my spinal epidural with my second son did not work also because of the tailbone.  Pregnancy for me is very painfull from about 14 weeks onwards, but it's a type of pain you can live with and manage.  You can sit on special rings and pillows and in the third trimester not walk far at a time.  It depends how it was broken on what the consequenses are.  It's not life threatening, just a pain in the butt.
