Taking baby aspirin after 4 m/c's

by Blouin, Feb 10, 2006 12:00AM
I have had 4 m'c's and no one can tell me why? I have read a lot about Baby aspirin helping to conceive and carry a baby to term. Is there anyone that has had success with this? Thanks!!

I have never heard of this have you talk to a physcian about it?

Women with clotting disorders will take 81 mg of baby aspirin each day to help reduce clots.  I would ask your gyn to test for clotting disorders.  They take a ton of blood (14 viles).  It takes a couple of weeks to get the results back.

Good luck

Oops, hit submit too soon.  With the aspirin, many women also take heparin injections.  You really need to get the tests to find out if this would be a solution for you.  Another thing to check for is progesterone deficiency.  They may have already tested you for these problems, I have no idea.

Good luck again

Hello, I am having a similar problem.  I have had 5+ early miscarriages in the past year fallowing a year of trying with no sucsess, my obgyn had been testing me for fetility problems up to this point. She is now be reffering me to an endocrinologist, as she is not familiar with the trouble i'm having (not very encouraging for me).  In the past i have gotten a positive home pregnancy test at 14-17 dpo, but if i waited a ew more days to get the blood test done it would come back negative.  This past month my Dr. was more on top of it and had me get the blood test done right away.  My first test showed 212hcg (promissing), 2days later it had only rose to 274hcg, and 2 days after that it had dropped to 56hcg (showing the pregnancy would fail).  my dr. had put me on progesterone right away so i don't think that was the cause.
If any one has any information i would greatly appreciate it...I'm not sure what to think right now.
Thanks.

I have had the same issues a few years back.  After having 3 children , I went o nto have 3 misscarriages.  I di go to see a maternal/fetal group who did have me do tone of bloodwork./  It was found that I had the new common thing-antiphospholipid antibldy syndrome.  It cause your body to make tiny blood clots which affects the oxygen transport in the placenta.  Usually these losses occur between 10-12 weeks, as the placenta really kicks in.  Earlier losses, I have read are more likely hormonal, or abnormalities with the baby.  I would highly reccommend getting the bloodwork done to see if they can pinpoint either one. After those 3 losses, and the bloodwork, I did go on a baby aspirin a day and had to take heparin injections 2x a day from 8 weeks pregnant through the whole pregnancy.  It was not fun, but my little boy was SO worth it.  Since, then though, I lost a baby this past Sept. at 16 weeks- this one had an intestinal problem- so seems to be unrelated to anything above.  I just lost another one last week at 10.5 weeks, and had been doing the heparin and aspirin- so I am on a quest for answers once again with this, hopefully some more blood work.  But, I am thinking my hormones aren't right or as I am getting older (37), maybe my eggs and body have had enough.  Best wishes to you, hope you find some answers.

Thanks so much for sharing with me! it does make me feel a little better hearing someone had success after multiple miscarriages. I haven't had much luck finding info. on it, and what i had found wasn't very promissing.
Thanks again, and good luck to you.

Did you have tests before your dr. put you on the baby asprin, or just as a precaution?

my first RE put me on baby aspirin and I miscarried
the next one told me too many docs do that - and that it is only for some problems - he said you have to know the difference
no aspirine this time (but projesterone)  and I carried to term

At my infertilityclinic, they put everyone who does IVF on baby-aspirin until about 12 weeks. Just a precaution because lots of people miscarry early due to clots.

Hi everybody my name is Irene and I am 41 yrs old with a beautiful 2 yr old daughter (Brook). Last year I had a second trimester miscarriage @ 17 weeks and the tests done on the baby were inconclusive (maddening) and in Dec.'05 I was pregnant again and miscarried @ 7 weeks. Iam now preg. again and taking baby aspirin--anybody out there with this craziness? Iam hoping that this is my time. Last year when I m/c @ 17 weeks, I had just lost my oldest brother in a tragic accident and I felt that my sadness was too overwhelming--the docs said that there was not any relation--people who are stressed can go into cardiac arrest but I guess a broken heart will not lead to health issues--I have since changed obs with the hope and faith that this is our time to have another bundle of joy--pray for me. If there is anybody that can share with me--please write me back and I thank all of you for your compassion.

To: 2 miscarriages baby asprin or heprin?
hello everyone i really need helP!! I KNOW THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE EXPERIENCING WHAT I AM. 2 MISCARRIAGES AND HAVE JUST FOUND OUT WHY!!! ANTICARDIOLIP AB, TWO DOCTORS GAVE TWO OPINIONS. ONE SAYS BABY ASPRIN, OTHER SAYS HEPRIN B/C BABY ASPRIN WONT WORK, HEPRIN HAS RISKS, NO GURANATEE OF CARRYING FULL TERM AND IT THINS YOUR BLOOD, SO M/C CAN OCCUR AGAIN, AND POSSIBLE HEMIRAGE. NOW WHAT? I AM 23 AND DESIRE TO BE A MOTHER, I NEVER HAD ONE IN MY LIFE. THIS IS MY DREAM AND BIGGEST HOPE AND DESIRE. I NEED HELP IN FINDING OUT WHATS BEST FOR ME. ANYONE CAN HELP,PLEASE. WHO IS OR HAS BEEN IN THIS SITUATION? YOU CAN ALSO EMAIL ME SHADY-***@****

I have had 2 miscarriages and I am 16 weeks.  I am currently taking heparin and a baby aspirin.  The doctor has done several tests on me but they can not find out the problem.  I am just beleiving and hoping.  Most of all, trusting in God.  Hang in there and pray!
