Taking baby swimming

Taking baby swimming

Hey ladies! I remember this being brought up on here before, but don't remember what everyone's advice was!

The day after Thanksgiving, we have a wedding to attend out of town and will be staying in a hotel. Max will be 3 months old by then and I am wondering if it will be ok to take him in the pool?? He absolutely loves his bath time, so I'm sure he'd really enjoy it. I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion is! :)

Thanks!

Little ones love the water.  Just make sure to use a swimmer--not a diaper and change the swimmer every hour if you are in the pool a long time.  Also just have a very big towel or wrap close by to cover him up in.  My guys nver had a problem with the pools when little.  They are now like little fishes in the water.  I do remember though they hated to have water in their faces that little.

Why wouldnt it be ok? Just make sure you buy those little swimmers diapers..it would be pretty gross if hes in a public pool with a regular dipaer that can come apart.

Hey Ruby!   Ahhh,  I bet little Max would love it!  Alyssa loves her bath time too but it has to be nice and warm.  I dont know if she would like pool water unless it was heated.  Im sure indoor pools are pretty warm though.  I cant believe how fast time is going by eh?  How is everything else going?

i'd say go for it. i didn't have edward in the pool until he was about 5 or 6 months but only because it was cold out. once i put him the pool for the first time tho...he loved it! swimmie diapers are a must. are you bringing him to the actual wedding also? or is someone watching him at the hotel for you? have a good time!

my only concern would be the chemicals. i used to take preschoolers swimming and many of them would react to the chlorine. i know i do too. if you have a family history of allergies or skin sensitivities, you may want to wait. especially if it's an indoor pool. i know when i walk into the room i even get a headache from the smell of all the cr@p they put in pools.
if you decide to, ake sure he wears a swim diaper AND rubber pants. most pools don't allow babies in otherwise. many baby bathinsuits now have them built in.

I took Carson around 4 months, he loved it!  Everyone's right, get swim diapers, but beware that they are different and if baby pees, it will leak out so put a regular diaper on when done.  I kept a shirt on him and kept it dry, keep a towel near too.  Cam went in the pool a few weeks back, just his legs, but he loved it too.  I was sure to rinse him off good when we got home and used lots of lotion too.  Enjoy!

I took Nolan when he was just three months and he liked it! Our pedi just suggested to be sure to give him a bath after to wash all the chlorine off which can irritate their skin. Have fun!!

Max will LOVE the pool! not to mention they say its good to try as early as possible to get them used to it. I watched on "bringing home baby" they had their little on in the pool, and i am pretty sure that show is only about the first month or so. Have fun and remember to take lots of pictures!!

I agree with tiredbuthappy.  I'd be worried about the chemicals and how his skin would react to them (I'm sure they use chlorine).  I'd wait too.

He might not like how cool a pool can be.  Find out if its heated or not first.

LOL I forgot I posted this...was just getting ready to post about it again. My memory left me when I had my baby!

Chemicals are what I was worried about and the cool water....but it is heated I found out. I guess we'll just see.

Girliegirl...Yes we are taking him to the wedding with us. He's a wedding attendee veteran...this is #3 for him! lol
