Tampon after M/C

Tampon after M/C

Hello everyone. I have a question that might sound silly but I really don't have a clue.

I started bleeding last thurs and it was confirmed Monday that I have m/c.. So my question is.. Can I use a Tampon now instead of these silly pads?

I was just thinking that there isn't any reason not to if there isn't a baby up there.. nothing to disturb.. Am I crazy?

Thanks to all!

Nope, you must use a pad to avoid an infection.

Looks like we started at the same time.  I am still bleeding too.  I though it would be over with my now.  I have to go back in to the doctor today for another test but they did tell me to just wear pads.  No tampons.  I know that sucks.  That's all I use.  I had to have DH go out and buy some pads just for this.

How did they verify that you had m/c?

Hello! I'm so sorry for your lost!! Right now I'm going through the same thing. Started bleeding on Thursday. On Saturday they confirmed the m/c - they made an u/s and blood test. And I guess it's because it just happened, but they saw I was still holding sth inside. The doc warned me that I should wear only pads. No tampons, no douching, and no intercourse for the next 3 weeks... And I hate pads too!!!

I see we misscaried almost at the same time. Are you still bleeding? I'm going through blood tests right now... my poor veins are all purple with little dots all over them.

I can't believe we are in such a similar situation at the same time.  My hcg was 59 on Thursday but 70 on Friday at the doctor's office.  I am going for my other test today.  This is my first m/c too.  I figured that mine should drop like yours if I am indeed having a miscarriage.  My husband had me on the phone too and I tried to walk him through it but since I don't buy them I could not give him very good directions.  The one's he bought were good though.  They work--I guess that's all that matters.  They definitely don't compare to tampons in the comfort aspect.

I too wish I could wear tampons but the doc said no tampons, baths, swimming, or bd for 2 weeks or until the bleeding stops.  That is funny that we all sent DH to get pads when we don't normally buy them.  At the time I was in too much pain to talk him through it.  He ended up buying me 14 plus size (I had told him to get me heavy ones b/c of so much blood).  I am only 5'3'' and 105 pounds, so the pads are HUGE and make me walk funny.  He said he thought they were for 14 year olds, plus (and older)......it makes me wonder if he really does have a master's degree and an important job.  Common sense I guess is lacking!
On another note, I am sorry you are going through this.  I started bleeding heavily last Monday with lots of clots and finally passed the gestational sac on Wednesday and I'm still bleeding but not as heavy....just to give you an idea of what to expect (but I had levels at 48,000 before I m/c and I was 10w6d along (sac only measured at 7w) so it might be completely different for both of you).  I will be thinking of you and praying for you!

my quant level went from 53 on Fri to 10 on Monday. So.. I guess that is how they knew. I'm really new to this m/c thing.

On Thurs when I started bleeding I had to send DH to walgreens for Pads. POOR THING. He had 4 people ask him if he needed any help. I was on the phone with him trying to help and they just kept asking. I needed the laugh at the time. he was so aggravated but since I don't buy pads I couldn't just tell him this brand this kind. So.. he came home with Walgreens brand. I'm all for buying store brand stuff... not this time. Those things are like cardboard. So, all that and I couldn't even wear them.

I'm so sorry to hear of your losses, and you will each be in my prayers.  It was nice to hear of the poor, lost DHs wandering the feminine-products aisles (like a cowboy walking into a saloon and the piano music stops and everyone stares at him and someone says, "Say, yer a stranger here in -- Sanitary Napkin Country").  I'm glad there was something to smile about at such a hard time!  I'm posting just to suggest getting the pads that say specifically "nighttime" on them.  They are longer, probably more absorbent, but not ridiculously wide, so no waddling around a la diaper.   Blessings and hope, Annie
