Teething

My 5 week old has a red rash on his body, I thought it was a heat rash, but then I looked it up on the net and had seen it could be a sign that he is teething! the last 2 nights he has not ate much in his midnight feedings barley a ounce, he is also fighting sleep alot! Yesterday from 10am until 10pm he only slept for 3 hours, I was trying to get him to settle down and sleep but no go, tonight after reading the stuff about the teething I washed my hands and felt his gums, I felt some hard bumps upper front and lower front.. could he really be teething at 5 weeks!?!

Signs of teething can manifest themselves months before the actual teething starts.  Five weeks is a little too early but nothing surprises me anymore ;)

Hey, girl.  I'm yawning as I'm typing this.  I'm completely exhausted and know how you feel.  Same thing with Ariella, she does not sleep nights anymore and we're excited if she's up once or twice a night (on a bad night, it's anywhere from 4-6 times).  I gave her tylenol one night to help her fall asleep and guess what?  No help.  Last night I gave her nothing, and she slept for 5 hours straight so go figure.  Do you work full time?  I come hope at 4 and put her down for a nap around that time.  Sometimes I take a nap myself for 20 minutes or so and it helps me a lot.  Ariella's got 4 teeth (the ones on top came out a couple of days ago).  Sorry, I have to magic answer for you.  I feel your pain!!

Me2mommy2b, I am ready to pull my hair out over teething (Ameera is also trying to literally pull my hair out)  She is waking up at night screaming at the top of her lungs and now has a rash on her face and butt (which she NEVER gets) how are you coping???  Ameera has the bottom 2 and is I think working on the top two.  I cannot even escape it in my dreams as the little sleep I got last night included a dream she had like 3 sets of teeth in her mouth and I was like, what the heck?????

My son just hit 11 weeks and has 2 buds on the bottom that have been ready to pop the last 2 weeks.  You can even feel. them a little, Dr. said they may sit there for awhile or may come any day.  He has been chewing on his fists like crazy.  Babies will usually start to show teething signs months before it happens, my first son had the drooling and red chin rash around 4 months, got his first 2 teeth at 7 months.  The rash on the body can be a newborn rash too, both of my kiddos have had it.  My second baby just outgrew it recently, but he gets blotchy and rashy if he gets warm or upset, and sometimes when he eats.  Babies also go through another rapid grow spurt around 2 months or so and it can totally affect their sleep and eating patterns.  I was freaking out when my son went in at 9 weeks for shots and still eats every 2 hours, but got up even more often at night, we were getting no sleep and I had to go back to work at 10 weeks.  He finally stretched it out that week and only got up twice between 1030 pm and 430 am.  I thought it would get even better 'cuz one night he slept from 11 pm till 430 am, but he got really sick his first few days at daycare and now we are up most of te night again, have no idea what I'm gonna do for the next 6 days as I go back starting tomorrow and don't have a day off till next Sat.  Anyway, babies will change patterns, could be teething or could be growing.
