The heartbeat

When I originally spoke to my midwife about my third pregnancy, she listened for a heartbeat and heard one.  At the time she said that not even with a third pregnancy can you hear a heartbeat before 14/15 weeks.  However the scans show differently (dd is 4 weeks later) and so she is following the scan dates.  My question is, what is the earliest you could hear a heartbeat with a third child?

I don't really see why a third child would be any different than your first.  But I would think you could hear it before 14 or 15 wks but it is not uncommon if you do not.  I am on my second and heard the heartbeat just at 11 weeks and I hope to continue hearing it.  With my first I think I was 13 or 14 weeks when I heard it.  Hang in there I am sure you will hear something soon.  How far along are you????  Let us know what happens.

I just received my doppler in the mail today and heard my baby's heartbeat.  I am about 9 1/2 weeks.

I heard the heart beat at 10 weeks.  It was approx 177 BPM.  You should definately hear it buy 14 weeks.

Thanks for your reply. I am actually around 32 weeks now so not much further to go.  It has been bothering throughout my pregnancy but I was too embarrassed to question my own midwife about her opinion.  I am glad to hear that you heard heartbeats earlier than what she told me was possible.
