Think pregnancy takes too long? Fun/Open Forum

Being pregnant takes so long, and we get so uncomfortable, and impatient. I found how long some other animals have to be pregnant for to cheer us up.

Human 266 days
Otter 270-300 days
Cow 279-292 days
Horse 330-342 days
Ass 365 days
Giraffe 420-450 days
Sperm whale 480-500 days
Asian elephant 645 days

So, if you're anxious, or uncomfortable, and all you want is to hold your baby, be patient. Many animals have it much worse than us.

It's funny that you mention the elephant thing.  I have a funny story about that.

When my parents got married after knowing each other a short while...(my father was military and was being restationed...the only way to take my mother with him was to marry her)  My grandmother swore that the only reason that my father was marrying my mother was because she was pregnant.  Well, 2 years later, they had their first child (my sister)...my father then brought her home to introduce her to her grandmother as the "elephant grandchild" because only an elephant gestates for 2 years.  lol.  Sorry..i think it's cute.

I'm just about to start trimester three (in a week I think) and I feel like it has gone by too fast.

that does make me feel alittle better.  just try not to think about other animals like cats that are only pregnant about three months-now that sounds about right

Household pets (cats & dogs) are only preg for 63-64 days, but yes, they do have litters!

Yeah, there's a reason there aren't any household pets on my list. On the other hand, they haver to nurse 6 or 8 babies at a time, so.....

Yeah, I'm with sherry on this one.  Incidentally, when we went to get our Golden Retriever at (her age) 7 weeks old, there was the poor mama, chasing NINE puppies, and her nipples were totally chewed on and bleeding.  Imagine!
