This is getting freaking old....

This is getting freaking old....

GOSH....I am getting sick of Ashtyn NOT eating. I know it is not his fault and I am not mad at him, but what is god's name is possessing him to close his mouth as tight as he can no matter what I am trying to feed him???? I practically have to pry his mouth open...and if he does eat, he will only eat fruit and only a small amount...he used to open his mouth and willingly take the food and if he was really hungry, he would cry between bites becasue I was not giving it to him fast enough....where has my baby gone??? Why does he not want to eat?? We have tried stage 1, 2, and 3 foods in the last week, searching desperatly for something he will eat....!!! We have tried warming, we have tried giving it to him cold and tried cool.....all he wants is a  freaking bottle...AND on top of that, he keeps projectile vomitted AND then continued to spit up the rest of his bottle....!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON????

My daughter was giving me a hard time last week - very brief but it made me nervious so I looked up in my handy little book and it said that could be from teething.  Not sure why or how.  My dd will only eat a few solids and is still mainly on the bottle.  Bottle is all they need for the first year anyway.  BUT if he is getting sick with the bottle you may want to talk to your doctor maybe he developed an allergy?  Or maybe reflux?  Not sure.  Good luck hope everything works out.

Don't you wish they would just tell you what is wrong with them, LOL!
Don't fight him Cheyenne, he doesn't want solids and it's only driving you mad. Just leave off the solids for a few days and stick with formula until he stops being sick.
In a few days see if you can tempt him again with one of his favourites.
Sam was the same a few of days last week, hardly ate any solids but had a couple of extra bottles instead, I'm guessing he had a bit of a tummy ache or it could have been from his jabs the week before, who knows. He's still not back to eating what he was, I keep offering food but give him extra milk too if he doesn't eat much.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I really do think he is teething becuase he has also been waking up in the middle of the night screaming...so I have given him tylenol thinking that maybe he is in pain. He has nothing showing through yet, but I think it is coming!!!!

It is prob the teeth but talk to your doctor first about the tylenol.  I am giving you advice I dont even follow but I should tell you my doctor said no tylenol for teeth until you see an actual tooth.  I listened until last week.  There were two nights last week where I just could not stand to see her whine.  I know it was her teeth she never cries and she always sleeps good.  The Tylonel did help her pain but did not help her sleep she was still restless during the night.

She goes back next week I will tell him I gave it to her twice and I am sure he will say no no but I am her mom I know what she needs.

Some days are better then others - today she had no signs of teething - had all of her feedings and is now asleep for the night.

Good Luck, I feel your pain.  The not knowing is going to drive us all nuts.

PS.  When she had the horrible cold and fever he told me to give her a dropper and a half full of tylonel - for the teeth I only give her half of one dropper.  Much less then what she could have.  Just enough to take the edge off of her pain.  That seemed to work if you want to try that too.

I give him .8 or whatever it is on the dropped...maybe it is .08...not sure off the top of my head. He is doing a lot better since I gave him the tylenol...so, I guess I will just give it a few more days. He does not go to the ped again until the 24th....so its going to be a while before I see her! Thanks for the advice!

it's funny how all docs are so different. my ped tylenol is completely fine, and even wrote me a note to give to daycare saying they can give her .8mL "for pain or fussiness"

and don't feel guilty. dh is a pharmacist who is ultra-cautious when it comes to DD and he says tylenol is fine for teething.

My twins (also 8 mo) have been teething recently as well.  Just a few days ago I started using one of those little fruit/veggies mesh feeders.  It holds fresh fruit or veggies in a little mesh pouch that the baby can "chew" on, but they wont choke because the mesh prevents any food chunks from getting in their mouth.  I put like a 2 inch banana chunk in there and my babes LOVED it!  You might try that (even chill the banana first), as it might feel good on his teeth and could even get him interested in some food again.

Good Luck.  I'm sure he'll come around soon!

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! Sometimes I get so fed up with whatever little idiosyncrasies... my youngest did this and I just put the baby food in the cupboard for a month and then tried again at the end of the month. She still wouldn't eat baby food, or it was just fruit. So I just didn't do baby food. At 9-10 months old she started eating soft adult foods (noodles, soft fruit, crackers, etc.).

So maybe he just doesn't like baby food anymore?!?!?!

Also, if he's vomiting, he probably just doesn't feel good and baby food is upsetting his stomach. If something makes you nauseous or vomit, you don't like to eat it, so that's probably the same in his case. Just an idea! Remember, breastmilk/formula is really all they need for the first year, so if he doesn't want to eat, it's okay. Def. bring it up with is doc!
