Tick on 6 mo old :(

Tick on 6 mo old :(

It's not like I live on 10 acres in the woods.... I just got ds out of bed and was changing him out of his sleeper.
I saw something on his leg, took a little closer look and it was a TICK! I snatched it up and threw it out of panic. It landed right on his diaper Decor thank goodness. It was latched on because I had to pull it loose but it wasn't puffed up w/blood or anything. Can you believe this? Ugh, we had the windows open last weekend but the bug man came last week..I have 2 dogs that may walk in his room but don't spend any time there. My cheesey laundry room is in the garage, hmm.... just don't know where that could have come from. Do you think I need to be worried that it was latched on to him?

I wouldn't be worried, but I would call the pedi to get his advice.

Was it a deer tick?  If it was a wood tick you don't really need to worry.  If it was a deer tick watch his leg for signs of the bulls eye rash.  My daughter had one in her armpit at 10 months and when I called the pedi they said there is really nothing they can do unless she showed some kind of symptoms, which beside the rash that comes fairly quick (if it comes), could be months. Most likely he is fine, as was my daughter. The dogs can absolutely carry ticks into the house, which could drop off of them in your son's room, I've found them on my car seat, just from walking across the lawn.  Good luck!

I agree w/ wannabenana - call his pediatrician for advice.

These days, Lyme disease is a real concern about about 30% of the time those infected with this infection do NOT present w/ a bulls eye rash.  We live in MO and my husband contracted Lyme along but he did have the classic bulls eye rash.  A simple blood test to look for the antibodies associated w/ Lyme will determine if he has had any exposure to Lyme and if treatment w/ antibiotics is needed.

I would call the pediatrician and see what they say, just to be safe. I thought deer ticks were too small to be seen? I could be wrong. I hope everything is ok! :)

Deer ticks can be seen with the naked eye.  Seed ticks are hard to see unless they are in clusters.

I don't see any red mark at all. It's funny he was sorta latched on right by where his to shots were. Maybe he was going for the blood! ha ha.

I would double check with the pedi, but I would guess that unless they show some kind of allergic reaction or infection, there isn't anything to worry about.

Sorry to hear that tho..  you just hate to think of those little creepy crawlers getting onto our little babies.
