I went to my 12 week appt yesterday and my OB thought my uterus was huge for 12 weeks and had me come back for an ultrasound today. Well, it's huge because I have a fibroidFibroid tumors Uterine fibroids the size of an orange on top of my uterus.
The scary part is that I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, and it wasn't there. It went from nothing to the size of an orange in 6 weeks.
I have to go back for another ultrasound in 2 weeks to see if it grew, she said if it doesn't stop growing they may have to remove it.
Did they tell you how much of a risk there is to the baby? Is there a risk of miscarriage?
Was it terrible? Did it hurt, before and after? I have cramps and abdominal pain, but it's not unbearable. I thought that it was because this is my 4th and my body is breaking down. ;)
Thank you so much for any information you want to share.
I'm sorry if I'm being intrusive, I'm just really worried and I don't know anyone else who has been through this...
i was told that women who have fibroids are as common as their age.. ie: if you are 20; 20% of women your age have them...and so on. i had a large fibroid with this last pregnancy, which my doctor sent me to one the best hospitals in canada (mount sinai in toronto). the specialist said my fibroid was attached to my placenta...and it would come out at delivery....my baby is 4 months old and completely healthy. my sil had alot of fibroids and the problem she was told about fibroids was actually conceiving...you've already done that so hopefully everything will be ok!!! will be thinking of you!
i've just posted about confusing diagnosis I've had with two doctors regarding fibroids. One says i have a fibroid the size of a fist and the other can't seem to see anything!
I'll keep you posted BUT, see if there at any alternate solutions to remove the fibroids. I was told that its major surgury if they have to abdominally cut you and there is a LOT of scarring.
I've heard of lazer treatments working miracles, do look into that as well.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this hun. I wish I knew more, the only thing I know is that my district manager's wife had fibroids with their son and he was born healthy and without intervention, except he was really early.
I'm sorry.
Thanks!
