Toddler Bed Survey

by Darkestlight, Jan 17, 2009 05:37PM
When did everyone put their child in a toddler bed?? My situation is this I'm having #2 in late June. My DD will be around 21 months. Should I put her in a toddler bed before the babies born that way I can use that crib for #2 or should i just buy a new crib for #2?

I just dont want to buy a new crib and then a couple months later have to go buy a toddler bed for her cause she out grew her crib.

When do kids normally go into a toddler bed?

Thanks.

I think, well in my case, they go to the toddler bed when they start climbing out! I think my dd was about 18-19mo's. She was climbing out and it was inevitable that she would get hurt! I thought my life was over, that once she went in the bed she would keep coming out but that was not the case. I had to change the door knobs and put in a video monitor, but heck :)

We went to a twin bed.  It happened to be a daybed, so it had railings around three sides, and I just tied the crib bumper (unused on the crib because they are a no-no for smothering risk) onto the three sides of the daybed.  Worked great, and I can lie down with my little man in it, which I would not be able to do with a toddler bed.

I think your 21 month old will be fine in a toddler bed. You can start early enough so they can get used to it. I think a couple of weeks would suffice :) I didn't put my son in a toddler bed probably until he was 2.5 years old, he he.

my daughter will be 2 on the 29th and she is already in a twin bed we put her in a toddler bed when she was about 17 months old because she kept climbing out of her crib and i was afraid she would get hurt and she just loves the twin bed she says it's her big girl bed

First went to toddler bed at 2 years, second child shortly after 18 months as he was trying to climb out of the crib.

HI.. I'm sure you can make it work with a toddler bed. However, I have a 20 month old and I cant imagine not having her in a crib.  If I were to put her in a toddler bed now, she would be running around at like 3 am while we slept.  I would be afraid she would get into trouble (she's started her terrible twos early) The other day I caught her standing on our wall unit.  MInd you, I just went to the kitchen for 2 seconds.  Just keep that in mind.  You know your baby and I know mine is all over the place.. Good luck.

I put my daughter in a toddler bed when she was 17months because she was climbing out of her crib. I just made sure there was NOTHING in her room she could get hurt on! I think your 21month will be fine! My daugther is 2 now and we are about to put her in a twin bed because she is refusing to sleep in her toddler bed because sshe wants a big girl bed like mommy and daddy!
