Toilet training

by richierich, Aug 12, 2003 12:00AM
Hi, my son is 5 1/2 and starts school in a month but still isn't toilet trained. For the last few years he has been going to the doctor because he holds his "poop". This has caused his insides to stretch out. He has been on medicine (laxative) for a year or so to stop his holding and bring his insides to normal. He still has no control and we need to get him toilet trained. HELP!

I am in the same boat as you. However we still allow him to put on a pull up to go to the bathroom otherwise he will not go. We schedule bathroom training to sit on the toilet and go through the motions but no luck so far. We have offered insentives, distractions (tv, storey, mazes, stress toys, candy) all hoping that if he is relaxed he will go but no such luck yet. If you find any info please share it, we also really need help also.
