Took birth control pills for less then a month and may be pregnant?

by trying2be, Jun 25, 2007 12:00AM
HI,
I started to take Birth control on May 20th after my period started on the 14th (did the Sunday start).  I had breakthrough bleeding that seemed like a regular period again on May 31st.  I stopped taking the pills right before the last active pill, because I did not like what it was doing to me.  I had one day of light pink spotting between stopping and today, and was wondering what the chances of being pregant could be.  I am not sure when my next peiod should be due to such a heavy breakthrough on the 13th.  My husband and I haver had unprotected sex many times while both on the pill, and after I stopped taking them. I have soar breasts and crave oreo's everynight, and am overly tired.  Not sure if I should waste money and test, or wait a couple more weeks.  What do you all think?

I'd go ahead and test. I'm sure if you are pregnant it should probably show up by now.

I would go and buy a test. They are like $10, so its really not THAT much. Plus it'll put your mind to ease.  I was always told, that it takes 4-6 weeks when you first start taking the pill for it to go into full-effect. It is possible to get pregnant while taking the pill. But it's also possible to get those "side affects" just from the pill itself. Your body may just be getting use to something new in your system. Same thing will happen if/when you ever decided to go off the pill too.

I am off the pill.  I only took it for 14 days and stopped because of what it was doing.

the pill can be ineffective for the first month even if you took it correctly. i would test because if you are pregnant you should get on vitamins asap.
