Trimesters

What is the "offical" number of weeks in each trimester? For example: The first trimester is weeks 1-12, right?? A friend and I can't agree.

A normal pregnancy is 38 to 40 weeks so if 38 weeks a trimester will run 12.67 weeks if 40 a trimester will run 13.33 weeks.

I always thought it was in terms of months 1-3 first trimester 3-6  2nd, 6-9 3rd trimester. The usually length is about 38 weeks to 40 pregnant. Most occur 38. 40 would be maximum  I know with c-section (at least this is what my doctor said) they like to take them 38 weeks I was 39 and all the nurses said I was over due b/c the baby skin was all shedding and peeling at birth.

What do you mean your babys skin was peeling and shedding at birth? I had our second son at forty weeks and his skin was fine.

You know when you get a suntan/burn and your skin peels thats what his skin was like all over the nurses said he was over due that the amniotic fluid must have been gone or almost (my water never broke it was a scheduled c-section)  I had to put lotion and lotion and lotion on him for about a month  His skin is fine now

Wow I have never heard of that. The only thing I was aware of is the white coating that is all there skin when there born to early my oldest was covered in it.

One place I looked said they were:::::

1)1-13
2)14-27
3)28-40

Another place said:::::

1)1-12
2)13-27
3)28-40

I always thought it was the second set of #'s and that is what I go by.

funny because one of the first things I did after BFP was go to a website to find teh day I start my second trimester so I can feel safe (it said june 14th?)

funny  the website I looked at today said I satrt tri 2 on may31st?
