I was wondering if anyone had information ona positive test on the triple screen for trisomy 18. What is the probability that someone has it with a positive screener test?

I choose to not do the test, because I have heard about a lot of false positives.  This is not always accurate, but extremely possible.  Hope you are doing well, and try to not stress too much.  They do follow up positives with other tests, or at least should.

I don't know alot about trisomy 18, but I do know that there are a lot of false positives. Don't quote me, but I think I heard it's like 80% false positves or something like that.
Did you have a positive on the triple screen test?

there are quite a few false positives with that test.  I had a positive ultrasound and have a 3 week old normal baby.

Also, a positive result on that test doesnt necessarily mean your baby definitely has a disorder, just that the odds of it happening are lower.  A true positive result can drop your ratio to like 1:300 (from 1:2000 or so).
