UTI and ttc

i have been diagnosed with urinary track infection. we are ttc, but doctor put me on antibiotics- TRIMETHOPRIM, which i should take 2 tablets for three days. he told me i can not ttc while i am taking the antibiotics as it can seriously damage the embrio. how long do i have to wait after finishing tablets before i can start ttc again?i had my period on 17th feb, do you think i should wait till my next period??? need your advice, please!!!!

I would call and ask your pharmacist.  This must be one hell of a hard core antibiotic you're on if you were told that it could harm an embryo.  Women get UTI's while pregnant and have to take antibiotics and I haven't heard of anything terrible happening.  I was taking a form of penicilian to treat a urinary GPS infection when I conceived...my family doc told me not to try and conceive while on this medication but my friend whose an OBGYN told me it was fine.  Anyways, even though another month seems like an eternity when you're trying to get pregnant, at least you'll have piece of mind knowing that you're good and healthy when you do get pregnant...waiting until your next cycle couldn't hurt.
