UTI symptoms?

I was wondering what the symptoms of a UTI are in a toddler? We got a letter in the mail today from the nurse of our urologist saying that we need to keep an extra eye on our son now that he is about to turn 2 and that he is expected to be getting UTI's now. But didn't tell us what the symptoms are. I don't think I can go by him being in pain when he pee's because I'm pretty sure he has lack of feeling in that area.
I called our urologist to ask, but am just getting their voicemail.
Does anybody have any idea's what to expect?

If there looks to be blood in his urine.

I'd say that blood in urine is a sigh of a UTI that hasn't been treated for a long time.  Frequent urination might be another sign.

Thanks, I will watch for blood. The frequent urination might be hard because he is in diapers. I guess I could watch for his diapers being fuller than normal, but he is drinking a lot more now that the weather is warmer. So I guess I will jsut watch for blood and wait for the urologist to call me back and give me more signs if there are any.

frequent urination, painful urination, small amounts of blood in the urine....encourage him to drink water or even better cranberry juice
