UTI

Do any of you have anything that you used to relief the discomforts of a UTI? I have one and could not sleep last night because I was going to the bathroom every 10 minutes with only a trickle. I realize I need antibiotics and will get them but until the prescription is called in I am so uncomfortable!! My bladder is contracting over and over again and I feel like I have to pee so bad but can't. I think there is some blood there, too. It's not spotting, it's in the urine. Any ideas??

Drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Also, no oj or dark liquids or milk. Clear liquid only. Cranberry will help. If infect has traveled you will still need rx meds

Thanks. I think it has. I have aching in my kidneys. Like I said, once it is 8 am here (20 min) I will call and have them write a Rx for me. I just want relief NOW. It's so uncomfortable!!

Unfortunately, even rx will take a while to give relief. Cranberry juice will give some relief sooner for the "I gotta go now" feeling. I hope you feel better soon!

The meds the dr gives you will relieve the symptoms almost immediately.  There is something over the counter called AZo for UTI's and it works pretty well in the interim.  Make sure you go tot he dr though because at 36 weeks I had one and it traveled to my kidneys.  Not good!!
Good luck!

I guess everyone is different, I was on rx and didn't get relief from the "urgency" for 2 days.

Do you always get the Rx when you have it? I have been getting them more in the past year, but I was SO miserable last night I sat on the edge of the bed and cried. Then called the nurse line at 2 am, like there's anything they can do anyhow!! I was just reading about macrobid and it is unknown if it is safe for pregnant women. I don't like that and now I'm wondering if I should just treat myself!
