Ultrasound 5 weeks 4 days only gestational sac

Ultrasound 5 weeks 4 days only gestational sac

I had an ultrasound yesterday at 5 weeks 4 days, the ultrasound showed a gestational sac that was empty.  My doctor gave me little hope because I've had a previous miscarriage.  Has anyone had a ultrasound at around this time that showed an empty gestational sac and then was a successful pregnancy or am I looking at a miscarriage?

At 5 weeks and 6 days, my ultrasound showed ONLY an EMPTY gestational sac, nothing else. Like you, the dr gave me little hope. But here I am today, 33 weeks along with a heathy, normal baby boy.
So... YES!!!! There is hope; Dr.s aren't always right. You may just have a slow start. And it also could just be completely NORMAL. Believe me, I have read PLENTY of stories on here of this happening to women. Early ultrasounds are a curse! Don't have another one until you are 7 weeks AT LEAST.
Keep us posted. I care and I know exactly how you feel!!!!!

Thank you so much Jenny, I'm sitting here so devasted.  It gives me hope to know there is still a chance this pregnancy can turn out healthy.  I appreciate it so much.

I only had a sac at about 6 weeks - didn't see anything until 7 weeks.  Then we saw all three but we are now down to two but they are healthy and happy in there.  Don't be devasted yet - I think that's way too early!!!!  Good luck.

Have you had any bleeding or anything that would make your doctor think that you would miscarry?  I have heard so many storys about it just being to early!  With both of my miscarriages I started to spot at 5 or 6 weeks, so with this pregnancy I told my doctor that I didn't even want to see him until I was 9 weeks, because I didn't want to go through what you are going through, just being in there too early and not seeing anything!  I am so sorry you are going through this mental stress!  I think if you haven't had any other signs of miscarriage it was probably just too early!!  Everyone should have my doctor!  I read so many stories where the dr was so negitive, mine is amazing...  mine never gives up hope and he is so sweet... always postive no matter what!!  Every doctor should be that way!  It just make me so mad when I read these posts about doctors saying things to add stress to any already stressful time!  Try to relax and not get too worried yet!!!  Good luck!

Yah I have no cramping or bleeding and I'm nauseated from time to time.  I definitely feel pregnant but just because I had a recent miscarriage is why I find myself so scared.  With my last miscarriage I had no pregnancy symptoms and I had lost it at early 5 weeks.  So I was very hopeful this time because I passed up the time from my last miscarriage and I feel pregnancy symptoms but my doctor shut down all the hope I had yesterday.

Your doctor stinks!  You should move to Texas and come to my doctor!  Anyway...  I think this one is going to be just great!  I think you just went in too soon!  I know it is going to be hard to wait, but don't give up hope!  If you are feeling more pregnant this time, that is a great sign!  hang in there!

its not uncommon at all to only see gestational sac and no fetal pole at 5 weeks. sometimes the US are a lil bit off as well. I know ur lil one is doing great. At 5 weeks 6 days i didnt see fetal pole with DS but with this one 5 weeks 2 days we saw a fetal pole. am now 6 weeks four days, went for my second scan at 6 weeks 1 day and saw heart beat. so yes 6 weeks u can sometimes see something. congrats!! and good luck. :)
