Unsure about being pregnant- please answer

Hey, I posted a question similar the other day, but now have additions and also cant find it.
Ok my last normal period was Novermeber 25 2006. I've had unprotected sex for the past 5 months. My period was due on December 29 2006. It was a no show, although I had light pink spotting, only when i wiped and it lasted no longer than an hour, it wasn't even enough to get on a pad. Anyway I took a pregnancy test tht day, and it was negative. I have had nausea, and gagging over certain smells-cigarettes, cooking meat. Also I get car sick, unusual. For the past 2 weeks I think I've had cramping, still no period. And also have had mild headaches behind my eyes mostly. Slight lower backaches. And for the past 2-3 threes days EXTREMELY sore nipples. Also for about 6 days, I get really sad over everything and weepy. I took another test on Jan 12, but also negative. From what I've read this all sounds like pregnancy to me! But why BOTH tests were negative just baffles me. Has anyone else had multipul test and been pregnant?

while it is possible, and your abnormal periods, you need to visit your dr for a blood test. get a quant test so you can see the numbers of the hormones. good luck

its unreal to determine since you havent had a period since novenmber. do you think you were pg then>?>? go to the dr and get a blood test so you can have a peace of mind.

what do you mean?
"its unreal to determine since you havent had a period since novenmber. do you think you were pg then"
If my last period was on November 25 2006, and have a 34 day cycle, I would have ovulated around December 15 2006. Which would mean I would have gotten pregnant in December.

I think what she's trying to say/ask is that you could have been pregnant in November without even knowing it. It is common for some woment to have a period even when they are pregnant. My doctor told me that if you were to test during that time, your body would produce enough hcg to test positive but doesn't always produce enough to trigger the "turning off" of your period.  I don't know exactly why it wouldn't show up on a test now, but somewhere (I don't remember where exactly) I read that you should not rely on urine tests after 6 weeks gestation and if you are doubting the accuracy, you should get a blood test. I hope this helps!

I just happened to think of this also..... a coworker of mine has been pregnant twice now (both unexpected) and she never tested positive on a HPT! The first time, she suspected she was pregnant and tested frequently but nothing.  After she was two weeks late she got a positive blood test. With her daughter, she didn't even think about being late until she went for her annual. They tested and sure enough! She went home to POAS to show to her boyfriend and it came up negative! I don't know why..not sure she does.

People always "know someone" who had this happen.

Some people have faulty recollections of what happened and the timeline involved.  Sometimes, they are using a urine test that is not as sensitive as a blood test which can measure down to 0 (depending on the type of blood test).  If your blood level is 75, and the sensitivity of the urine test is only 100, the urine test will be negative while the blood test is positive.

There are tons of different types of urine tests, and many are not very sensitive to low levels of the hormone.

That's not accurate about urine tests after 6 weeks.  If there is enough HCG being produced in the body to be detected on a urine test, it will be positive.

If someone is very late for their period and gets repeated negatives on a HPT, most doctors would want to do a beta HCG just to cover all bases and be 100% sure someone isn't pregnant with either a very, very early gestation, or an abnormal one that isn't producing much HCG.

My first child was conceived at the beginning of March 1992, all my HPT were negative till May 30th, 1992.

My second child was conceived at the end of November 1996, and all my HPT were negative till February 17th, 1997.

So... yes it could be false, the blood test is the only real way to know when you are early.
