Update and ? about Amoxicillin

by nikkicole827, Apr 13, 2007 12:00AM
hey ladies, I spoke with the nurse at the docs office today.  She spoke with him and for my sinus infection he prescribed Amoxicillin.  I was surprised but didn't get a chance to ask her if it was pregnancy safe.  I am sure he wouldnt prescribe it otherwise.  Do you ladies know anything about it?  Also the diarreah and vomiting have passed.  She said she was pretty sure it would be food poisoning or a virus and you jsut have to let that take it's natural course.  Which it did.  Tonight I drank orange soda and the baby started moving around like normal.  Orange soda does wonders for feelign this baby I swear.  I was out and had my husband pick some up and then shortly after I was feeling it!  Ally76, did they put you on Amoxicillin?

I had a sinus infection a couple weeks ago and my doc put me on amocicilian.  He said it is perfectly fine during pregnancy, I am always worried about taking anything at all so i was really weary about taking the prescription!  My sinus infection went away within a couple days and the baby is still perfectly fine!

My Dr put me on that when I was pregnant.
So yes, it's safe for you and the baby.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I recently had tonsilitis and my doctor prescribed me amoxillin. its perfectly safe and is a class A drug. (class A is the safest for pregnant women). I am 21 weeks now and my baby is perfectly healthy :)

Yes, amoxicillin is safe to take during pregnancy.  I have taken it when I was in my first trimester with my first child in 2001; and so have many other friends I know who have taken this anti-biotic during their pregnancies.

I was given amoxicillin at 7w1d for a bad tooth that needed a root canal.  Which I opted to wait on the root canal until the baby is born.  I am now 20w2d and everything is great.  Take care
