Update on my situation

Hi Everyone, It's been a long time. Some of you know my story. I went into the hospital at 24w5d and stayed there until I had my twin girls at 28w3d. The girls are doing great. Both are gaining weight and going up on their feedings almost everyday. They are still on the CPAP machine that helps them breathe (not a respirator)They still have their feeding tubes but tolerate them just fine. The smaller of the two is now in an isolete which is a step up. She's catching up to her sister! I'm doing okay. Been having some problems with Post Partum Depression and had to get out of here and go home to see my other twins. Medication and time away and time with friends helps. It's a very scary thing to go through. Hopefully the worse is behind me although I know that bad days may still occur here and there. Everyone take care.

well I am glad t hear you all are doing ok. Sorry to hear about the Post Partum Depression, you will get through, probably because you can't bring them home yet and I am sure you are always worrying about them. Good luck and I hope they get to com home as soon as they are strong enough, I am sure its hard with you at home and the are at the hospital. I will keep you and the babies in my prayers.

That is so wonderful that your babies are doing great!! I had my youngest dd at 30.5 wks. It is so hard. I could not touch her because she was sensitive. I found myself watching those monitors everytime they beeped. It drove me nuts! But she is 2 and in great health. Just like your girls will be by the time they come home. I also was very depressed because I came home with out her, but I knew she would be home soon. She had to be at least 5lbs. It was hard, but you have to be strong. Before you know it they will be tearing your house apart with the other 2!!! Good luck with everything and congrats on your 2 blessings!

I am so happy to hear things are progressing nicely for your twins. It is nice to get home but very disheartening to leave them behind. It will all work out in the end and they will be home soon.   Congrats once again.

thanks everyone. I get to stay at a Ronald McDonald house that is only 3 blocks away from the hospital. I never knew much about them before but it's a great place.

Congratulations on your second set of twins!!!!  I am so happy for you!!!   I have never been through postpar. depression, but I have suffered with depression for 10 years off and on....  so I think I may know what you are feeling.... it helps to be around lots of people...and there is nothing wrong with going to the Dr. for meds and go to counseling (like there is time in your busy day for these!!!!)...anyway, my thoughts are with you and your family!!!  Jacquie

hiya hon.  I also suffered from Post Partum Depresion after my ds was blorn.  It was a very tumultous time in my life, my business went bankrupt and I had to move from the country where all of my famil is and where I had lived for ten years.  Looking back, I realise that a lot of what I was feeling was legitimate depression, and given what you have been going through for the last few months, you probably have a healthy dose of legitimate depressio ntoo.  This is one thing you have to wait out, though there are things that help.  Give it time, and your little girls will be home with your bigger little girls, and things will settle down.  As foryou and dh, me and mine were in a horrible state for several months duering that whole period of upheval, and that got better too.  Im sure you guys will be fine, just wait for the boat to stop rocking a bit.  Im glad to hear from you:):)

I know how you feel. I had my dd at 23 weeks and it was a long road to get her home. There are many ups and downs it is like an emotional roller coaster. There is an end and it sounds as though you are looking at a very happy ending. Just remember how lucky you are to have such healthy young babies born so early. It is a miracle, I know. Yes, the ronald mcdonald house is great. I stayed at one in Florida near the hospital, they had dinner every night for us and it was so convinient. I could not even afford to pay but they did not turn me away. The charge was only 10 a night but I was there for 11 weeks and lost my job after my daughter was born. Just keep positive and remember that it is ok to take a day off. Sometimes getting out of te hospital and around normal everyday people is just wat you might need. Good luck

my husband has been absolutely awesome. Eventhough he's as exhausted as I am, my needs have taken priority over his own. He even went to my psychologist appointment with me so he could get some advice on how he can help me. He has supported me immensley. We have our problems but he makes sure that when I REALLY need him and love and understanding he's there.  He tells me not to spend 8 hours in the NICU and get out and go shopping and have fun with friends who come up to visit.  He says I'm no help to anyone unless I myself am happy. He reinforces what the drs.and nurses say..... "Your babies will need you more when they get home so get yourself better now and don't be hard on yourself because the babies are getting the best care they can get now in the NICU"

hi, thanks. Counseling has helped and I have to say that the staff here at the hospital has been great. I've had OB drs call almost everyday since they knew I was having problems to see how I was. Tomorrow I have an appt. with one of the OBs that delivered my twins just to see how I'm doing. Everyone reports to everyone so they are all on the same page. It's been amazing.

How are thing with you and your husband?  Has the situation improved or are you still having problems?  I guess this really is a dumb question cause the stress of 2 preemie babies in the hospital has got to make it difficult

I'm so glad you made it through and am really, really happy to hear your dh stepped up so well in your time of need.  We sure hear about enough jerk dhs and bfs on this forum that it's great to hear about a good one doing what a good human being should do.  Glad to hear the girls are doing better and better too.  And finally, I'm glad you got to see your other kids!  Will keep hoping good things for you -- Annie
