Just wanted to keep you all posted. I am scheduled to go to the hospital at 8:00 on Monday night. I will be given a pill called Miso, placed on my cervix and then I go to sleep. In the a.m. my dr. will check me out and if the Miso works, I should be dilatedDilated cardiomyopathy enough to have my water brokenBroken bone Broken or knocked out tooth. If not, it's another Miso and waiting. I could get bumped however if the Miso isn't doing anything and they need the bed (it's considered an elective procedure). Soooo, I really don't know what to expect, but hope to be holding my littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys boy by Tuesday night. Please say a prayer for me that it goes quickly. All I can say is thank god I'm only doing this once!

Your right --if you got a good hubby and now a babe what more can you ask for
Best of luck
Just found out my sister is going to have a c section probably next week too she is the one having twins
Christie, I was hoping the Miso was something different than the Cytotec. When I asked my dr. he didn't know what Cytotec was. I'll let you know how it goes.
Cytotec is the brand name of Misoprostol, which is a pill that is commonly used to treat ulcers. It is cut into halfs or quarters and placed next to the cervix to cause softening ("ripening") and to make the cervix more ready for labor. Sometimes it will put you in labor by itself, but more commonly it has to be placed a couple of times, and then labor induced with Pitocin or the water can be broken if you are dilated enough.
Perhaps where you are, it isn't called Cytotec, or maybe your doctor prefers to call it "Miso" so as to avoid the negative connotations sometimes associated in the lay community with Cytotec. If you do a search for Cytotec on the internet, you will see some frightening things, many of which are exaggerated-some plain untrue. So sometimes the doctor calls it by the generic name so the patient won't be frightened about it.
Cytotec is WIDELY used for induction/ripening purposes. It has been used for many years, and has a good safety record. No medication is perfect or risk free, and Cytotec is no different. It can sometimes cause contractions to be too frequent, and if they can't be stopped or the baby doesn't tolerate them, an emergency C/S must be done. The pill is so tiny and dissolves so fast that it can't be removed once in place--its main drawback over Cervidil, which has a string and can be removed. But Cervidil doesn't work as well, and is horribly expensive too.
Really--I want you to be at ease, not scare you to death. Inductions are very common, Cytotec use is VERY common (we had 3 last night!), and there are safeguards (monitoring) in place to help assure that you and the baby will be fine. Much of what you read on the internet is misleading, as I said above.
The main problem you may have is BOREDOM! Usually you are confined to the bed or bathroom for the duration, and must remain on the monitor which can get annoying itself.
You may or may not have an iv in place, too.
I can't wait to hear your birth story and to see pics! Do you have a digital camera?
Thank you for the info. I agree I will be bored. He basically said to be at the hospital at 7:45 and then they'll give me the pill and I go to sleep. I don't go to sleep usually till 11 so I hope there is a t.v. in my room. I'll bring a book just in case. Yes we do have a digital camera and I'll be asking dh to do one of the websites commonly used on this site so that I can have you all go and check out the pics. I'm starting to get used to the idea of the induction and that's allowing me to get excited about finally having the baby here. Thanks so much (again) for your helpful info and support.

Thought by putting it here you might see it
You had mentioned about fissures Did Jacob have them?
I noticed yesterday when Cody was pushing his little bottom too Is there a cream for it? Going to get some prune juice he goes about every 3rd day and its not rock hard but he seems to strain. Thanks for your help
i have not seen a cream for them. They seem to heal preety easily and quickly but the thing is too keep Jacob's poop soft until theyheal or they just break back open. I just make sure to keep them real clean. You will know if he has them because you usually notice a little blood on the baby wipe when you clean him. I had them while I was pregnant because I stayed constipated and let me tell you they will make a grown woman cry! Only we know that we have to go and get it overwith but they just would rather keep it in and that just makes it worse. I got them when I was little and I would hold it and my mom would end up having to give me an enema. That is even worse!
Just wanetd to wish you the very best of luck for a quick and easy labor and delivery:) Just think you will be holding your baby boy very soon! Goodluck i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
