Urinary tract infection results in....

You may remember my posting about my inability to hold my urine when I sneeze or be able to stop peeing midstream.

Well last Monday when I saw my doctor, he told me to do a urine sample and take it to the lab.  They called me last night to say I have an urinary tract infection. This is my first ever. I have no pain or discomfort. Over the last few days I can stop midstream again.

Anyways I have to start antibiotics tonight for the next 5 days. I hope this doesn't hurt the baby. Anyone else go through this

Awwww.. I'm sorry. I just figured it was the baby as, I have problems with holding it to sometimes.  I've heard antibiotics are fine during pregnancy.  I hope you feel better soon. I know it's probably so uncomfortable.

Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and that your ultrasound is perfect. I won't be able to check this site from Dec 23 to Jan 2. We will be closed and I don't have it at home.

Sorry you are experiencing discomfort...but glad you found out what was causing it.

When I suggested a UTI when you posted last week, I had a strong suspicion b/c what you described is what happened to me -- no pain, etc., but just couldn't stop.  I had never had an UTI at that time either, so I didn't even suspect that was the cause, just thought it was cause I had just had a baby.

The antibiotics should clear you up in no time, BUT I also wanted to mention the value of cranberry juice.  Cranberry juice has something in it that kills UTI bacteria (preventing it and when it hasn't gotten too bad).  I never had a problem before kids, but anytime I get the slightest inkling that I may be getting one, I drink cranberry juice and nothing ever develops.  Worth a try.

LOL!!

Thank you so much for your advice. I've heard that cranberry juice is good for it too. I don't buy it all the time but I do once in a while. I guess I will be buying it tonight :)

I'm going to have to buy it more often for now, I don't need any problems while pregnant.

Have a Merry Christmas and Holiday season.

In my 2nd pregnancy, at about 35 weeks, i got a urinary tract infection and had to go on antibiotics. No harm was done to the baby although he was born the next week. The doc said that the urinary tract infection can cause u to go into labor early and sure enuf i did...whether that was a coincidence or not, i will never know.

Here's hoping it was coincedence. I'm only 20 weeks, that wouldn't be soooooo hot. Thank you for the heads up.

I got a UTI last week too. It is very common in pregnant women. I also had one with my 1st pregnancy around 22 weeks. They checked me and put me on antibiotics. I am much better now. My baby is right on top of my bladder, it must be her pillow, lol!!! Take care~~~
