Uterine Fibroids

Uterine Fibroids

Is there anyone here who's had or has uterine fibroids?  I just came back from the doctors office to go over my u/s results from last Tuesday and it was discovered in the u/s that I have a "small" uterine fibroid on the fundus of my uterus and multiple cysts on my overies.  All of which I was told was nothing to worry about as they are all benine (spelt wrong I know), but was also told that it may be a little difficult to conceive another child let alone keep it to term.  I suffered a preg. loss in march/april of this year and I think this might have had something to do with it.

So I guess what I want to know is if there is anyone here who has anything like this and went on to have more children (I have 2) and if it was difficult to do so?

thank you
anita

I personally have not, but my friend has.  She went through over 3 years of TTC and was told she had some cysts on her overies one month.  Then came a laperscopic looksy and low and behold they found a fibroid and took it out.  After that she conceived with twins on her second cycle.  So basically it can prevent pregnancy, but if you correct it you can also become pregnant.  She had two boys.

I already have children but I know that I'm not done yet.  One thing my doc did tell me was that I "may" have polycystic ovarian disease :(  I think I am going to rebook an appointment with my doctor and see about having the fibroid removed.  If i do have PCOD then I'll have enough troubles with fertility I don't want to have to worry about the fibroid too.

What is TTC?

I had a small uterine fibroid detected in my sonohystogram last August. Funny thing is I had this test done on day 9 of my cycle and found out less than 3 weeks later I was pregnant : ) The fibroid didn't impeed my pregnancy and I went on to have a healthy little boy in May.

I have a huge family history of fibroids, uterine and breast. In fact all of the women in my family have had such problems with them they have all had to have a hysterectomy (sp) by the age of 40. My aunt and I are both dealing with fibroids in our breast tissue as well. That being said, my grandmother had 5 children before they became a problem and all but one of my aunt's had children as well. Sadly, I am the only granddaughter to have children in time as the fibroids started popping up early in our generation. I have 3 cousins who had to have surgery before they turned 30, thus rendering them unable to conceive.
