V-Back??

V-Back??

I am 35 weeks pregnant with my second child, I had a c-section with my first child because I was induced 5 days early due to high blood pressure, and after 44 hrs in the hospital I was only at 5 cent. so we did a c-section. I really want to do a v-back this time it doesn't have to be all natural, I just do not want the epidural, as I think it slowed my progress, and I absolutely do not want a c-section. My blood pressure is high with this pregnancy also so my doc wants me to schedule a c-section a week early, she is how ever open to me wanting a v-back...if my cervix is at least thinned out because they cannot give the servidle, or however you spell it(what they give you to open you cervix) for a v-back. So I have read up and I'm so confused on what to do, it has only been 2yrs since my c-section and I remember it like it was yesterday I HATED IT the whole experience is just awful and the recovery stinks not the pain that I could handle I didn't like not being able to take care of my child the beast I could! Help do you guys think it would be ok to attempt a V-back, with inducement because inducement will happen. thank you

I dont really think it matters whether we think it will be ok or not, it comes down to what your doctor recommends.

i'm like you- HATED my c-sec for the same reasons. it was actually kinda traumatic. but my OB is not open to vbac due to the risks, and i respect his perspective. he said there's only a couple drs around here that do it, and they only risk it for people who plan on having 7-10 kids (he said the orthodox jewish population around here is an example).

I've had 2 successful VBACs...one 21 months after the c-section and the other 10 years later.  I was allowed to have a small amount of pitocin with both to help labor progress (and was also allowed to have an epidural).  I LOVED having a vaginal delivery, so I would recommend it if #1 your doctor is willing to try and #2 it is a safe option for both you and baby.  But know that, as in any delivery, a c-section remains a possibility.

Good luck!

I know lots of women that had successful vbac's. However, the Dr. is the one to determine. I just had a c-section 8 weeks ago, and my Dr. said in the future I can try for a vaginal birth if I wanted. I had a vaginal birth with my 1st child, which was also induced bcus I was 1 week over due, and that was way better than this delivery that ended in a c-section because of a failed induction. My bp was high, and I was 3 days early, but stopped dialating at 4cm. Therefore, im all for vbacs if possible. Just always remember that with inductions theres always that chance of a c-section.

i had two c/s.  i hated them both, so i hear you on this.  i attempted vbac the second time and ended up with a horrible painful frightening uterine rupture and emergency c/s.  i think any induction increases your risk, so try to avoid it.  i had pitocin, wish i had not.  i can only imagine what a vaginal birth is like, i wish i could experience it.  i never will, if i manage to get pg again, i will have elective c/s, and i wil hate it.  however, i would think that a planned c/s would be a much nicer experience than the hell i went through and with that in mind, i caution you to give a lot of thought to this.  be prepared for that repeat c/s even if you decided to attempt vbac.  be ready if anything goes wrong to move quickly.  in my case, i did have warning signs, which were ignored.

Thank you guys so much for your opinions, I'm scared of a rupture happening, but I really want to try a v-back, I really really wish that I could avoid an induction, I think if I could wait it out my body would be ready, my doctor had already told me one way or another the baby will be out at 38 weeks, so I know for sure (unless my body goes on its own!!) I will have an induction, and this is what is worrying me the most,I was induced with my first daughter, and got to  5 cms, and my doctor said c-section so I did it without even thinking  but if I had it to do over, I would of kept going with the labor, we were both tolerating it well. My doctor will not let me go past the 38th week because of my bp and my baby is very large she's worried, I'm just afraid to make the decision to do a v-back and then something go wrong and something happen to the baby. I know to be ready for a c-section and I am I just want a chance to bypass the c-section!  So I'm going to try any home remedy I can to go into labor LOL any ideas I heard sex, walking ect.......
