VBAC after 17 years, 1 successful VBAC, 2 Csections

by foxeymom, May 22, 2007 12:00AM
I am 47 years old and am expecting our 4th child.  I have had 3 other children.  My oldest two sons 23, and 20 were both C-sections, my daughter is 17 and she was a successful vaginal delivery.  I want to know what is best for me now, a VBAC or scheduled C-section.  I have had different views from various doctors.  I am just wondering I guess about age and the chance of uterine rupture in the case of labor induction.  I am now 38 weeks, today, and next week we will decide what to do if labor hasn't begun yet.  Also, I forgot to mention, I have gestational diabetes.  My sugars have been good, with the help of glyburide, 5 mg. at night.  I also have been having 2 NSTs a week and our heartbeats, the fluid, our blood pressure has all been great!  I look forward to your response!!

i have read a bit about vbac, and the safety issue. i know it can be done very safely, but im not sure with your diabtes. hopefully peekawho or another wiser one will come answer this, but really id think your dr would have discussed this with you. did he say it was safe? seems like 38 weeks is a bit long to wait to figure out which is the best option. i hope you have a safe and quick delivery!!

I'll bet your docs will want to do a section.  Given your gd and advanced maternal age (I thought I was the oldest preggo on here!!).  Whatever you and your docs decide I pray you have a safe delivery and a healthy baby.
