I am on clomid 50mg also. On my first cycle I produced two eggs and ovulated 2 days apart. I was in agony for about 5 days but was assured it was 'normal'. After o I had sore boobs and fatigue and bad PMS. The second cycle I again produced 2 eggs and the pain at o was minimal. I am now 5dpo and have not had any of the problems I did first time around. I can only assume that the first o after 18 months of nothing was a major shock to the system. Good luck to you I hope you get your BFP this month.
Tam2girls...just curious, do you go in to the dr.'s office to see how many eggs you released during ovulation?? And if so, on what day do you go in?? I am getting very frusterated with my Dr. so I'm just curious how closely other Dr.s track their patients. I have to constantly call my doc to remind them that I need to come in and so forth. This past month AF came a few days early and I was out of town. I even called them a week before I went out of town just to make sure I didn't need to come in for anything before my next AF...they assured me no. So, I called the Dr.'s office on day 1 so they could call in Clomid for me, but they refused to at first (they said it's because they hadn't seen me since cd21 of my last cycle). Anyway, I was very persistent and ended up getting upset, so they finally called in the Clomid and now I'm on day four and taking the pills. I'm thinking of changing Infertility Docs, so I'm just curious what others are getting from their Docs
I'm having issues with my dr., too. I had a m/c in March and then starting trying again in May. He told me to use OPK's and then have my progesterone checked b/n 6-8 dpo. Off the bat, my progesterone levels were coming back between 1 and 5, but mainly below 3. It took me persistently calling to get him to put me on Clomid 50 mg last cycle. He just called it in. No follicle monitoring, HcG shots or anything. At 4 dpo, my prog. was 24 but AF came 3 days later at 7 dpo. I called his office concerned as to why I would have such a high progesterone level and then AF come a week early. They said to not worry about it, just a fluke. Took clomid again this month same dosage and at 6 dpo, progesterone was 7.7. He called and said that was an okay number. When I questioned him about all the info I've seen that says that it needs to be at least 10, he said that 7.7 indicated ovulation and not to worry and that I had a 1 in 6 shot of being pregnant this cycle. I really feel like it's not going to work this cycle and am contemplating switching doctors, too. I don't want to overanalyze this, but when it seems that he's not taking me seriously and that everything he does is against the standard. What do you think?
iknow what you mean about doctors. i was put on clomid and given very little information, so i have done most of my own research on the internet. my doc does not seem to be following me like most docs do. i get a progesterone on day 21 and that is it. this was my first cycle of clomid so when i called to talk to the doctor this month, the nurse answered and told me my lab results and that the doc would order the same dose this month. when i questioned why i would get the same dose even though it didn't cause me to o, she said that's the way he does it. i don't know weither to switch docs or not, i don't want to have to start over again, but i don't know why my doc is so laid back with the clomid.
I have taken clomid for 7 cycles. I would get blood taken on day 21. The more clomid I would take each month the lower my progesteron levels would get. As far as I know I did not ovulate.
I started clomid 50 mg yesterday (day 5). So I will take it days 5-9. My dr. wants me to go to the lab on the 24th or 25th (day 24 or 25) to have my progesterone checked. I am also in the situation that he hasn't really explained anything to me. Will the progesterone level test show whether I'm pregnant or not? I also have heard mixed stories about when I will ovulate. Some say 5-12 days after the last pill, and some say as late as day 30. However day 30 would obviously be too late for something to show up on the progesterone test...right? I would be thankful if anyone could give me any in-sight. Thanks!
I also took Clomid. The progesterone level does NOT test for pregnancy. I had a level of 23.8 the first month when I was not pregnant, and then a level of 17 the second month when I was pregnant. I did not ovulate until day 20-21. You also may have to wait a few days later than normal to take a HPT. Good luck! :)
