Vegan and Missed Miscarriage

I am 39 and just had a missed miscarriage found out at 11 weeks but my baby stopped growing at 6 wks. I want to know if there is anyone out there that is a Vegetarian or Vegan and had a sussesful pregnancy. I guess I am blaming my self because I'm a vegan and lost my baby even thought my doctors said that had nothing to do with it. Due to my age the doc said it was some sort of cromoson abnormality. But if I decide to try again I need reassurance that being a vegan would not cause another miscarriage. I am trying to cope and need closure.

I'm so sorry about your miscarriage.  Miscarriage should happen to nobody.

Regarding your question about veganism and pregnancy:  listen to what your doctor says about it.  Do you really think vegans never have babies?  :)

Good luck on your next try.

I have a good friend on this site who is vegetarian and she is a month away from giving birth to a healthy baby boy.  Being Vegan would not cause miscarriage.  The biggest concern of a Dr. in a Vegan pregnancy would likely be nutrition, and if you have been a practicing Vegan for any length of time you would know how to be sure your body is getting the nutrients it needs through your diet and vitamins if needed. Your Dr. is likely correct, as chromosomal problems are very often the cause of a pregnancy failing to progress after the early stages, and that happens at conception, not from your diet.  I am sorry for your loss, and I wish you a happy healthy pregnancy soon!

Thank you for your words of encouragements. I'm having a hard time with accepting what just happened to me. That I guess I'm looking for answers.
