WE REALLY WANT A BABY!!!

WE REALLY WANT A BABY!!!

My fiance and I really want to have a child but the problem is I have had a tubal ligation and a uteral ablation during my previous marriage where I had three children naturally. My fiance doesnt have any children. I am 28, had my tubal in September 2007 and Ablation in October 2007. I have had no periods since. Has anyone heard of taking hormones to see if my period comes back?  that would mean the lining in the uterus is back to working and I could possibly conceive. Has this happened to anyone else? My other option in surrogacy which seems really expensive. answers please.

You have one good thing on your side--your age.  You likely still have good functioning ovaries.

Now the bad news.  Pregnancy after tubal ligation reversal surgery is harder to achieve, obviously, than if you had never had it done.  Not impossible, but harder.  Tubal reversal surgery is usually NOT covered by insurance.  That's one consideration.

The next consideration is pregnancy after uterine ablation.  After a uterine lining is ablated, scar tissue develops, and the endometrium is destroyed.  The endometrium is necessary for correct implantation and development of an embryo and fetus. If the embryo implants, there is a great risk of the placenta attaching to the uterine muscle itselt--and it can even grow THROUGH the uterus to the outside surface of the uterus.  Such a serious scenario could lead to devastating hemorrage at time of birth, death of the fetus, emergency hysterectomy, or possible death of the mother.

Scar tissue inside the uterus can impede a developing fetus in devastating ways, if it can even implant and grow to that stage.   Scar tissue in the uterus can wrap around limbs of the fetus, and slowly result in in utero amputation and lack of development of a limb or limbs.

There are no great statistics on pregnancy after ablation.  It has happened, and there have been good outcomes.  But there have been exceedingly bad outcomes, including death of both the mother and fetus.  The numbers just aren't there to support and encourage women to take this risky step.

It is something you will have to discuss with a reproductive specialist.  If you have no periods, and decide to go ahead with this life threatening venture, you will certainly need hormone manipulation to even see if your endometrium can be somewhat redeveloped.  You do have 3 children to think of, first and foremost.  Weigh your options carefully.  Get expert opinions from several specialists.   Perhaps someone will think in your particular case, it could work without excessive risk.

Best of luck,

Hi, i had my tubal reversal march 2011, it was a success, i have 6cm on each side and only paid $2,410! The doctor was great and with a HIGH success rate at pregnancies, i personally know 3 of them who are pregnant, and one of the girls got pregnant only had one working tube and 3 cm!! another gal went same day as me, and already pregnant! So there is hope!!! I have been trying since about 3 weeks after surgery......not really "trying" but having intercourse yes, i just started charting and using bbt and opk's this month after AF. So hopefully it works out for me! Good luck i wish you the best, if you have any questions feel free to message me!
