Waistline expanding

Waistline expanding

Good morning, everyone.  As some of you know, I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum last week, but I've had no sign of a MC yet.  We're keeping our fingers crossed that it was a misdiagnosis.  At this point, I should be about 8 weeks.

In the last week it has seemed like my waistline has grown.  I don't know what it measured  last week, but today it is 2 inches larger than normal.  Is this normal with a BO?  To me it wouldn't make since if the gestational sac is shrinking, shouldn't my waistline be getting back to normal instead of enlarging?

I don't want to get my hopes up if this doesn't mean anything.

Baby mac, how are you doing?

I was also diagnosed with a blighted ovum at 7 weeks, but by the u/s machine dates I was only 5weeks3days.There was a sac,and yolk but no fetal pole.It was the longest wait in my life, but eventually my baby showed up at 8 weeks by the u/s dates.I switched DR.s,and my new DR. thinks i ovulated really late in my cycle. My waistline expanded also, and I still felt pregnant.I can totally understand what your going through, the running to the bathroom fearing your miscarrying, and gettimg scared at every twinge and growing pain.My thoughts and prayers are with you~hugs~

I know youa re trying to keep your hopes up, so I hate to even mention this but....

With both of my miscarriages, I bloated something awful. In fact, with the last miscarriage, I read somewhere and my OB told me it's natural to retain a lot of water and bloat some during a miscarriage.

Either way, misdiagnosis or not, it can't hurt to drink LOTS of water to combat the retention.

Kassimom, did you actually feel bloated?  I've never retained water with my cycles, so I don't know what that would feel like, and I don't feel bloated.

Thanks for the input.  I really appreciate the honesty, even if its not what I wanted to hear!  ;-)

Honestly no I didn't FEEL it. I just noticed it because I couldn't fit into my pants and my face was puffy. But I KNEW I was miscarrying and so my feelings about the bloated part are pretty marred. I just didn't care. I was just miserable.

I am really sorry! I hope that everything turns out okay! When do you find out more? Don't you have another scan scheduled?

Thanks for the input.  My face isn't puffy - just my waistline.  ;-)  I definitely have a pouch I've never had before, too.  Yes, I'm one of those lucky petite women.

I don't have another scan scheduled at this time, but I've been in contact with my OB's nurse, so they know I'm not having any symptoms.  My plan is if I don't MC in the next 10 days, I'll call for an appointment.  The nurse is planning to call Tuesday to check on me, so they may decide to recheck sooner if things are still ok.

Thank you again for all your information.  I really appreciate the care and concern the forum show to everyone.
