With my daughter I gained 16 lbs the entire pregnancy and she was very very healthy 8.2lbs.....so drs didn't think 16lbs was not enough....
Well, I'm almost there now....Dr is estimating me to gain 26 lbs total and that is 10 lbs over my daughters pregnancy weight gain.
My biggest concern is 7 of those 13 lbs I gained in the past 5 weeks.....7lbs in 5 weeks....yikes!!!!
I'm not overeatingEating disorders - resources....in fact if you all remember I have had horrible morning sickness (which is still there sometimes) so I'm rarely eating any more than prior to pregnancy....
I'm not trying to starve myself by any means....I LOVE FOOD!!!! I'm not one of those I have to be skinny womenWomen's way! But I am a little worried that the weight gain could be something else....
Of course, I'm paranoid I know....after 3 losses, that happens....but could the 7lbs in 5 weeks be due to something else? or is it normal....
My Dr isn't overly concerned....but I just met this dr for the first time yesterday.
I wouldn't worry about it. I was worried too and I posted about it a couple weeks ago. I am 33 weeks and have gained 28 lbs. I don't over eat either. I don't know what else to do not to gain weight so much so I just quit worrying about it. As long as your baby is fine and your doctor isn't concerned then you are fine. Besides I think that is great for 24 weeks!! Enjoy your pregnancy!
Well I am 29 weeks and have gained 32 lbs. I wouldnt worry about it as your dr. isnt concerned. I am normally very tiny too but now Im huge!!! Just think its all baby and will be off soon!!! Good luck!!
Hey Deanne so good to catch you on here. I'm glad things are going well for you. They are going good for me too. I am almost there. Hey I remember going along just fine with my weight and I had a Dr appointment at around 20 or 24 weeks where I gained 10 lbs in 4 1/2 weeks. Dr. said I was still on track with my weight, I just couldn't do that every month. At 28 weeks she said I should be gaining at least 1 lb a week. I am like you and am small frame. I was actually considered a little under weight for my height. I eat, it's just my motabalism.
I posted this to someone else last night who was worried about weight. She is early in pregnancy but feels like she has gained a lot. Most of it is probably just that bloated feeling for her:
I'm almost 32 weeks and have gained close to 20. You need to step on the scale and see how much you have really gained. You may just have that real bloated feeling and haven't gained that much at all. Also, weight gain will be different for different body types. I know a few friends of mine that didn't gain any weight during pregnancy and one actually lost. But they were quite a bit over weight to begin with. If you don't have those extra pounds and are small you will not have that much of a weight cushion and will gain quite a bit. It is normal to gain around 28-30 pounds idealy during pregnancy.
Thanks ladies...I was just more concerned that it's always been between 1-3 lbs gain and bam....24 weeks....there was a 7lb increase in 5 weeks....that struck me hard.
I'm not concerned about the overall weight gain as much as I am with that 7lbs...I was just worried something else was wrong.
LoveFamily - I can't believe you are almost there!!!! So exciting....Are you ready?
I'm 18 weeks and a few days and I've already gained 12lb - scary. I know I'm trying not to think too much about it, and I will lose it after the birth, it dropped off me when I breastfed last time around.
I'm hoping it does the same with this one.
I'm concerned over my weight gain, too, but I'm convinced part of it is genetics in my family! We all gain weight with pregnancy! My doctor isn't worried, though. I'm healthy, baby is healthy and so on it goes. I try to make smart choices, but I've always been a sweets eater...I'm trying to limit that as best as I can. I also walk my dog two miles every morning and try to stay active with my five year old DD. I understand that I will need to make a strong commitment to weight loss after baby's birth. I'm prepared for that and actually looking forward to it! As for seven pounds in five weeks...maybe your body was just playing 'catch up' after having had m/s so bad? I wouldn't worry unless your doctor has an issue with it as your next appointment. July 4th is nearly here...strawberry shortcake, anyone??!!
I agree, no worries! There have been many times when I gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks or 4 pounds in two weeks. I didn't gain any the first trimester and now I'm up to 33 pounds at 39 weeks. At this last appointment I gained 3 pounds in a week! But then I got on the scale this morning and 2.5 of that was gone so I think it was extra water weight or something. There are just so many factors that go into it. You're good!! Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy!
Thanks ladies...you made me feel a lot better.
My dr wasn't concerned but I was and he just said...you don't want to come in next month with another 7lb jump...
He said even if I gain a lb a week for the next 16 weeks...he'd be okay with that...so I guess...I can be okay with that too.
I think I'm a little worried because of the pelvic pain/pressure and contractions. Charley horses in my legs...placenta previa...I feel like the more weight I gain the baby/placenta may start forcing the cervix open....
LOL - it sounds funny when I say it but I just can't help but to fear another loss.
I wouldn't worry about it, at least you're gaining weight. My doctor's riding my butt because I'm 26 weeks 2 days and I haven't gained a single pound. With my dd I gained 37 pounds.
I'm 18w, and I lost four pounds from my last appt. The doctor isn't concerned, I told her nothing looks appetizing anymore. This happen to anyone else?
Ok I'm sure I can make you feel better. I am 26wks and have gained 27lbs. 7 of those lbs were gained in 2WKS!!!! So I wouldn't worry about your weight gain. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.
I'm just so concerned because the baby and placenta are covering the cervix....the extra weight would cause my cervix to open...and preterm labor would be a possibility....
Just worried....but you all have helped with my fears.
