Weight control

I need some advise on controlling weight during pregancy - i am 100kgs 5'7, i am overweight. I put on all the weight during pregnancy in 2004 and i have failed to shed it off - tight schedule, no exercise. I eat healthily though. we are ttcing and i would want to maintain the weight i have currently (bcos i know loosing is not advised)and if am to gain - it will be the baby, the amniotic fluid, etc.

I need your advise on how i can do this.

This is such a tough question because everyone's body is so different.  The obvious answer is to eat right and moderately exercise.  However, I know several people who did everything "right" and still gained 50+ pounds.  I think your body is going to gain as much as it needs.

Just think "moderation!"  :)

I think exercise is a big thing.  Maybe not a gym workout daily but something a few times a week.  And I also think moderation in food is good too.  I feel the same way.  I weighed 130 before I had my DD in 2003 (I'm 5'0)  I know weigh 160 and TTC and scared to death what I will weigh if I do get Preg.  But it is worth it.  I have tried so many things to loose this 30 lbs.  Last year I went to the gym 3 times a week for 12 weeks and I know you don't exactly lose weight but gain muscle well guess what I did NOT!  I have decided That I will just try without trying too hard and be happy with myself!!!  Good Luck to you!!

You need to exercise to get the best results and eat six times a day and eat little portions.  I have lost 6pounds in three weeks.  Running and jogging is great - start slow and work your way up.  I run at leat 30-45min a day.

SWIM SWIM SWIM!  It saved me.  I started packing on pounds in the 2nd trimester and was determined not to balloon.  I swam for 45 minutes a day.  It can be boring but I tried different strokes, and also used the floating device where you walk across the pool.  It not only makes you weightless (which is an awesome feeling when you are big) but also knocked me out at night.  I never had much trouble falling asleep.  Also, please try to avoid things that have a lot of hidden salt===soups, TV dinners etc.  If you have the time, eat as much fresh produce and whole grains as possible.  Drink water until you feel like you will burst and nothing else (no sodas etc)  Even with everything I did and eating a very healthy diet, I have gained a total of 35 lbs and was just slightly overweight to begin wit--I was 165 5'7' prepregnancy.

Good Luck to you all!
