HI ladies
Hope all of you are doing great!
Question I have a friend who recently becasme preggers she is 9weeks. She is AFRAID of gaining weight. WEll, the reason is she lost alot before she got pregnant, this was liek a SURPRISE for her!
She fears that, after the baby she won't get enough time to do what she needs to do like working out ectra, ectra. I told her to continue what she is doing until her doc tells her wother wise. Though, she eats but is like montioring everything she puts in her mouth! I mean, she hasn't gotten any cravings so far.
I told her pregnancy you NEED to enjoy it.. it is something that is beautiful and as woman should appreciate without thinking about the pounds.. I don't mean she shoudl overeat ectra. It is a good thing that she is watching what she eats. But to over do it is another story!
I saw i don't know which forum, about a woman who only gained 20lbs.? Is that dooable? Or? At this time she weighs 160.
She used to weigh 240. So you can imagine how she is freaking out. Her siblings and cousins are all big. Except for one sister. Adn well, she knows one sister balloned really fast. Of course she ate what  she wanted, without hesistation. Is there a diet well not diet well after you give birth a specified plan to get your weight back whre it was? I know she is thinking of breast feeding. So, if that doesn't come through then any ideas or any info greatly apprecited.
Baby dust to all!!!

I think her weight gain is going to depend on what kind of diet she's been doing. Me, I just lost 50lbs on Atkins and then got pregnant. Of course I can't continue Atkin's while pregnant. I'm 17wks and have gained 24lbs. I don't overeat, drink sodas or eat sweets but going off Atkins like that caused me to start gaining back weight quick. I'm hoping it will balance out and slow down soon.

I gained 20 lbs with my first and 32 with my second as I had pitting edema.

She will have to continue to eat well and not worry about the weight gain.  A lot of the weight gain is predetermined and she should just relax and enjoy it.

Tell her to check with her doc about exercise.  I am nine weeks and I am not allowed to work out until week 13.  I am allowed to do yoga and aquafit.  I miss the weights and treadmill.

After the baby comes, she can go for great walks if she can't get to the gym.  Or find a gym that has childcare.

well I am on a restricted diet for G/D and I am 20 weeks I haven't gained any weight so far(with my first I gained 50 lbs total), but my only advice is to tell her to stay away from the fast foods, and she could talk to a nutritionist who will give her healthy meal ideas to keep consuming enough calories for her and baby without over doing it.  weight gain is part of a healthy pregnancy

I am 35 weeks and have only gained 18 pounds.  My ob is fine with that because I started out a little overweight in the beginning.  I put on 28 pounds with my daughter, and 37 with my son.  I was at healthy weights for both of those pregnancies.  With all of the pregnancies, I walked 5 miles/day 3 times per week and ate healthy.  I splurged once-in-a while but was satisfied with my fruits, veggies and meat.  With this pregnancy I've craved red meats.  I've eaten a ton of Steak.

As far as weight loss.  I was 27 when I had my daughter and the weight came off with not problem.  I was 32 with my son and it took a bit longer.  I've been pretty much pregnant for the last 2 years so my weight has been a mess.  I'm 36 now and have no idea how long it will take to get this plus the 25 pounds I need to lose from before the pregnancy.  My metabolism has definately slowed down.  I have 16 weeks of maternity leave so I'm really hoping I can take a huge chunk off.

With both of my pg's I gained a total of 17 lbs. each time.  I am alittle heavier but I also had GD with my first pg and had to lay off the carbs--I probably took it to far but I hardly had any carbs for 18 weeks--well you then don't gainthe wait and I had two healthy babies over 8 1/2 lbs each-I then breastfed both and was lighter than before I got pg.  Of course once I went back to eating carbs the weight came back.  But a small wieght gain is doable--escpecailly if you have no sweets, no pop, no yummy pasta's (other than  amsall portion).

With my son I gained 23 pounds, and he was over 10 pounds.  I was really sick in the beginning though and couldn't eat any sweets till the 7th month.  After it was all said and done I weighed in 8 pounds heavier than my prepregnancy weight because I lost so much in the beginning.  With this one I have gained 11 pounds at 30 weeks and am just about to my prepregnancy weight, due to morning sickness again.  I so would rather have not had the sickness though.  The weight will come off after baby.  I just try to avoid junk food when I can, and try not to eat when I have nothing else to do, but have really done nothing different.  It just depends on the person.  My sil was in the same boat as your firend.  She had lost so much weight before her first baby and it is hard to watch your weight go up after you have worked so hard to get it down.  Even with her second one it freaked her out, but she did it and she worked really hard to take it off after baby.  Maybe your friend should talk to her Dr. about this, she needs to be careful to not diet during pregnancy, take care of baby and worry about the weight after.  Good luck to her.

I think I only gained 20 pounds because I was very physically active.  I seemed to eat a fair amount.  My second pregnancy Ithrew up everyday adn still had the big weight gain.  It never seems to make much sense!!

I am 8 weeks and have lost 4 pounds.  REally having a hard time eating.  But not worried, I was like that with the other two as well.  I am hoping to keep the weight gain to 25-35 lbs, but I don't know if that will happen.  I may be a beluga again.

Im 16 weeks and have gained none. I lost in the beginning due to severe morning sickness. I think it depends on your weight before. I am also overweight (started at 170) down to 160 and now back to 170 after I could stop throwing up. My Dr has told me to plan on gaining 15-20 and a lot of what I read for overwieght women says the same thing. I eat tiny portions becuase I feel so full all the time, or in my mind am afraid of getting sick.
