What are the chances with Shingles AND chicken pox exposure?

My cousins daughter is going to be 2 yrs in Dec.09. My cousins husband got shingles and now my cousin got chicken pox...What are the chances of her duaghter getting chicken pox from begin around BOTH parents with shingles and chicken pox..?  My cousin says her daughter cant get chicken poc cuz she was vaccinated for it. she said the most she will get is the rash and fever...I thought thats what chicken pox IS? A rash and fever....My brother and I Both were vaccinated for it and we still got it when we were around 6-7 yrs old..My son was vaccinated and he got it the summer he was 2 yrs old......I know the vaccine helps keep the virus to a mild case...but STILL all in all..You get the rash n fever, you GOT chicken pox...Am i correct?????

i know the vax isnt 100% and some get a mild case.  i think they are even giving a booster now because the first injections isnt enough.  chicken pox and shingles are just a different form of each other arent they?  im sure you will know in a week if she is going to get it.

They are boostering the chicken pox vaccination now, because there have been cases of children getting chicken pox as teenagers who were vaccinated as toddlers or infants.  I hadn't heard of a 2-year-old getting chicken pox after vaccination (unless it was really recently after the vaccination), but since it happens to teens there is no particular reason to say it can't happen to little kids.  By all reports, the cases are milder than if the child hadn't been vaccinated.  I'm sure that if the vaccine does not hold for that child for whatever reason, with the exposure she has had, she will get chicken pox from her mom.  But she might not get it at all if she has been vaccinated.
