What does this mean? Inflamed Kidney??

by kierstynsmommy, Dec 22, 2006 12:00AM
Hi ladies, hope everyone is doin well. My SIL had her US done on Monday afternoon and she is about 19 weeks preggo. She is having a girl and they told her that the babies kidneys were inflamed...what does that mean? Will this fix it self? Has anyone ever heard of that. I was just wondering so I could give her some information on this if there is anyone out there that has heard of this. Thanks and I hope everyone has a merry Christmas~!

not sure what it could mean.. did they say anything about your sister in law?  when I had pylenephritis.. ( a kidney infection)  my daughters kidneys were also inflamed... I was about 24 weeks pregnant with her when it started.. Heather is fine now... does your sister in law have a bladder infection or a kidny  infection? what else did the doctor say to your SIL? was there anything else?  I hope and pray that all is well with your sister in law.. and her lil baby as well..

They also told me that it looked like my baby had one inflammed kidney, but not both. The doctor said the reason it usually happens is because there is a kink of some sort in the connection between the kidney and the bladder. Because of the kink, fluid passes by at a slower pace, causing the kidney to be inflammed. They made it seem as if it was of no big concern unless the fluid started going back into the kidney instead of out, because then it can cause tissue damage. Will they be doing another ultrasound just to make sure and follow up.

I haven't heard of that before. I was just wondering how you are doing?
