What have been your experiences with Tubal Ligation

DH and I are 100% sure we are done having children.  I am looking into tubal ligation but am scared to death when I have read what has happened to some women after the procedure.  I have been on every birth control under the sun and none has agreed with me (hormones mood swings---one threw me into a pseudo menopause).  DH just won't do a vasectemy--though if I tell him and convince him of all the risks with this surgery he may change his mind--

Your thoughts and experience?  How long for recovery what to expect---I was also going to look into getting the endometrial lining scraped (I am sure there is a proper name for the procedure but I forget) that the OBGYN told me I can do at the same procedure???I have finally gotten back to my self again after being screwed up with hormones and pills and just don't want to be in that situation again.

There are so many women who write on this site regretting their tubal ligation.  Besides the possible medical complications in getting it, if something changed in your life and you came up with a later desire to have kids, it's expensive, painful and not guaranteed to try to reverse it later.  We get letters that are just heartbreaking from women who wish they had never done it.  (That and/or thermal ablation, which also can make it unwise, to the point of life-threatening, to try a subsequent pregnancy.)

A vasectomy is so much simpler!!!!!!!   If he is as equally as sure as you are that he wants no more kids, your husband should not be so adamant about refusing.  A vasectomy is a really simple procedure compared to a ligation.

There is a fairly new procedure that is done in the office and is permanent. Basicly blocking your tubes. I forget the name of it but im sure you could google and come up with it online. They dont need to cut you at all. It is basicly like a pap. they just insert something in your tubes to block them, scar tissue will then build up permently preventing pregnancy. The only down fall I can see with this is there is no undoing this like you can with a tubal if you should ever change your mind:-) Good luck!
