What is Day 1 when I start bleeding while on Progesterone - Ready for Clomid

by shanfowler, Oct 29, 2006 12:00AM
I know this may seem very basic question, but when you are taking progesterone to induce a period, how do you know what your Day 1 is? I started light bleeding for a couple of days. Called the nurse Thursday, she said be patient - don't count it. Friday I just so happened to see my Primary Care, he said I really should not be bleeding yet, to check with my fertility doc. Well, I did... he did not seem to think I was starting yet either. I had cramping, and blood starting to show on my pad. This was day 9 of a 10 day dose of Progesterone. That night, I had typical period pains, cramping etc. and by Saturday I was bleeding heavily on my day 10 of Progesterone. In fact that night for the first time in a long time, I bled on my sheets. SO....would you agree that Saturday is my DAY 1???? I am supposed to take the Clomid on days 3-7... and I am so afraid and stressed I will do this all wrong and screw up a month of trying. Help.. I can't find much info on this topic. It is Sunday now, and I am still bleeding heavy......like a normal period. It is not possible to have another period in 2 weeks because of the Progesterone is it? I want to start my Clomid tomorrow.

I would consider Saturday your day 1.  Good luck and I hope Clomid works for you as it did me!!!

I agree with saturday at Day 1. I recently took it too to start a period and had light spotting for a couple days. My Dr. said to count day 1 as the first day of real red flow.

Thanks so much. The 3 of us agree.. that is a good thing. It is so hard to find info on the net about this... I am 38 and honestly never paid much attention to my cycles... so this is going to be very interesting. Started Clomid today. I go in for a HSG on the 6th... And I always thought it was my second husband... not me...

The exact same thing is happening to me right now! I am on 200mg for 12 days. Day 7 I experienced spotting and now every couple of trips to the bathroom I have brown or light red small doses of what looks like my period, but it comes and goes. I called my doctor and the nurse to not count this as my actual period. I am supposed to take Clomid on days 3-7 as well so I freaking out about this. My husband and I have been trying for 6 months. I took the Clomid only last month and no luck. It has been 60 days since my last period. I hope everything works out for you. Goood luck!
