What should I expect to happen in a miscarriage?

by NeeNaz, May 21, 2007 12:00AM
I am supposed to have a D&C this friday. I have started having some bleeding/spotting (it's there when I wipe, but rarely anything on the pad.. sorry.. TMI). I hear some people say that they start to get bad cramps, then it "gushes" out. Is that realistic? I've had that spotting for about 4 days now... when should I expect the "gush"? Thanks.

I did not have a big gush.  I had bleeding that started as spotting on a Tuesday and never got heavier than a regular period.  I had the D&C on a Friday.   I did have cramping on the first night.  It felt like really bad gas pains.  (Sorry TMI)  The D&C was easy.  The doctor put me to sleep and it took him about 15 minutes to do the procedure.  I woke up about 45 minutes later.

I am sorry you have to go through this.  I will be thinking about you.

When I went through my m/c I didn't have any spotting, bleeding or cramping.  Even after D&C bleeding was minimal.

Sorry you have to go through this.  I know what it feels like.

I am so sorry you are going through this.  I had a D&C on May 11th.  I too was spotting, only when wiped.  I had a "missed miscarriage", so I had to have a D&C.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers because I know how devestating this can be.

for me i spotted for weeks. as in 5. i ended up at the emergency room with pretty bad cramps one morning after 5 weeks of pink to brown toilet paper only spotting.

the doctor decided to take a look and as soon as i started to slide down to the bottom of the bed i felt a gush, it felt like the biggest blood clot i had ever passed and was following by heavy bleeding and cramping. for me i could not stop bleeding or pass everything so i ended ip having the d&c that night.

i think it can really vary from one person to another. my baby had a heartbeat just days before i lost her, even though i had been spotting.

i'm really sorry for your loss.

I too am sorry your going through this. I am in the same boat as Van I had a normal routine ultrasound on 04/12/07 and they found no heartbeat. I had a missed miscarriage no signs of anything being wrong @ all very devastating. I had a d&c done 04/19/07 because I was not going to miscarry naturally. I got AF today! Which I am happy about but scared to death of ttc again. Hang in there.. Your not alone !!

I only had a few spots of pink for a couple of hrs. Dr said it wouldn't happen on it's own. I had a d&c. Bled for several days after. The next af was a doozie, though. Clots, cramps and the heaviest ever. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you guys for everything. I'm having pretty bad back cramps.. like when I'm about to start my period. I HATE WEARING A PAD! :( I'm hoping for a gush tonight so I don't have to wipe all day at work tomorrow also. Thank you.
