What was your experience???????

What was your experience???????

Hello Ladies,
I am 37.6 weeks along so pretty much 38 weeks and am not dialated a darn bitt. With my last pregnancy I was barely dialted to 1 at 39.3 weeks along. Here is my question.....in your experience, if a woman is not dialated by 38 weeks does that mean that she'll go overdue or is more likey to go overdue or does it not matter because someone can be at 0 and dialate to 3 or 4 within a couple hours....just as an example?

Also, what were some of your experiences like? I am really hoping that I won't go over 40 weeks because I am not at all dialated now.

Thank you for sharing ladies!!!! Have a great day!

I wish I could help.  My first pregnancy I was 2 cm dialated at 34 weeks.  I had what doctors refer to as silent labour. I delivered Marcus at 39 weeks and 5 days. I notice something at 3am (no pain just felt like a feather touching at the bottom of my belly) and by 3:45am couldn't walk. Was at hospital 4:10am and was 6cm dialated at 4:20am. He was born at 5:39am, 3 pushes and he was out. And this was my first pregnancy and had no drugs.  I'm just praying to be that lucky next time.

Good luck and don't worry too much.

HI I have had 3 children and pregnant with number 4. My first one was vaginal delievery but my other two were c sections.

You may not dilate until your in labor and ready to go. I was 2 weeks overdue with my first one and dilated to only 3 before I was inducded. Everyone is different.

I've had to vaginal births both times I dialate but I do not go into labor.  Both times had to be induced--1 week over--healthy deliveries.  No real answers--Dr's most of the time just play a guessing game.

I was wasnt dialated at all when i was induced at 41 weeks. The dr was really afraid that the induction would fail, but 4 hours after induction my ds was born. I went from 0-10 centimeters in a little over an hour and pushed for the next 3 hours. My son was 9.5lbs, so thats why it took so long to push.

I was 39.4 weeks along when I delivered but I really did not go into labor on my own. The day before I had my membranes stripped and the next morning I was in early labor but still had to be induced to get things moving aster because I had developed an infection from the procedure and had a fever so my dd's heart rate was too high so they wanted her out even faster. I was in a hellish labor for 20 hours and had NO epidural.....living hell LOL!!!!

I got induced at exactly 40 weeks. Had my lovely epidurial on when i pushed, so i didnt feel a thing, until later! I tore(sorry if i grossed anyone out) and had numerous stiches in the place i'd rather not mention!(ha ha)But i got through that with a friendly donut(the AWESOME cushion they give ya to sit on if you get injured)    My labor went very fast for an induction. I had Hayden in nine hours, and only 30 minutes of pushing. Aside from the tear i have no complaints. It really wasn't bad at all! Everyone's expierience is so different.

I didn't dialate with either of my children, I was going to be induced with my first because I wasn't dialated or anything, but that night my waterbroke.

With my second, I wasn't dialated either, and was hoping that my water would break in the middle of the night too, but it didn't, so that morning went in to get induced.

I wouldn't have it any other way.  My doctor would never make me wait past my due date...  good luck. Some dr.s are different.

i have 3 children. with my first i was induced at 33 weeks because of severe preeclampsia. my second i had preterm labor and my cervix started to open around 30 weeks. i ended up having my son at 35 weeks. i just had my baby girl july-18 at 37 weeks. i had preeclampsia again so they went ahead and did my c-section early... my cervix was only open to 2 cm at the time. i have seen it go both ways though. lots of women walk around for weeks at 4 cm and others are 0 cm and end up going into labor all of a sudden and having their babies that night. i hope you have a fast and easy birth though.

My first sign of labour was my waters breaking, after six pain free hours I started to get contractions, then three hours later my daughter was born, I had no pain killers but did however have to have lots of stitches!

I was dilated to 3 at 38 weeks and was there for a week!  I walked and walked and walked... didn't work.  Maybe your dates are off by a week or something.  My cousin whom i was with when she delivered her DD was at 6 when she arrived at the hosp and then went to 10 like literally 10 min later...So I believe you can dilated very fast...When the baby is ready they are ready!!!
Good Luck to you!!

I was just at the doctor today, I'm 34 weeks and he did an exam. I am 1 cm. From what he told me though, that doesn't mean too much yet. I could still go 2 weeks late, or go a few weeks early. DO you think 34 weeks is too early to be 1 cm?

I went to the OB at 38 weeks and they did an internal exam and was not dilated at all. That night, I went into labor.  I've heard that sometimes internal exams provoke labor.  It worked for me!
