When can i recieve a blood pregnancy test?

I am a 20yr old female........i am 9 days late from my normally regular 28 day cycle. My last period started 01/10/09 and lasted until 04/10/09....this period came 3 days after coming off the birth control pill which my dr informed me was normal. It has now been 37 days since i came off my last period and still no bleeding!.......i have been getting "period like" cramps in my lower abdo for around a week now and feeling extremely dizzy and tired!......i have done 3 pregnancy tests over the past week and all have come back negative!.....i have been told that you can get a blood test to determine whether you are infact pregnant or not??.......i was wondering if my DR would do this test for me now....or shoild i wait a little longer to see if my period decides to surface?? any advice or suggestions would be hugely welcome!! this is really stressing me out and i know stress can also cause delayed periods :S

If your doctor will do a blood test at this point, it is not too early to get an accurate result.  Some docs won't do it this soon just because it is expensive compared to a urine test.  Going off the pill will often make the next few periods irregular.

i got grief from on of the RN's at my clinic when i tried to get a pregnancy test. I was 2 weeks late and i had taken 2 pregnancy tests that both came out negative. The lady said that HPT's are accurate and that i shouldn't worry till i was 4 weeks late!!!! I was shocked at this. She had to get a dr's approval but i ended up going in the next day.... and im now 8 weeks prego!! HPT's are not always accurate.

I went to my walk in centre last night as ive been getting pains.....the test was negative again and ive just been told to come back next week if i dont get my period!! its a joke! i hope my story turns out like yours :) Thankyou for the reply i feel much better!
