When did you feel your baby move? WORRIED

by mommy2b-nanny, Oct 07, 2007 02:24PM
I'm a little over 17 weeks pregnant with my son and this is my first pregnancy. I have not felt him move yet. I've been reading that many women feel their baby move around this time. I'm a thick girl so will I feel my baby move later than normal? I'm just worried since my symptoms have subsided too. No cramping or bleeding. I know I'm mostly being paranoid but could someone share their experience? My next OB appt. is this coming wednesday. I'm hoping that everything is ok. I had an U/S a little over a week ago and everything looked fine but now for some reason I'm still worried. ALSO I was laying on my belly for a few minutes last night while dh was rubbing my back, could that have hurt my baby? I'm sorry I sound like this, it's just that we are already in love with our son and can't wait to meet him!!

I remember the first time I felt my 1st son move like it was yesterday.  I was around 18-20 weeks along,  I was laying on my belly.  The best I could discribe this feeling is like someone taking a straw and blowing into a glass of milk with it, but in your belly.  It was very light flutters, I didn't feel an actual kick until much later...

Thank you for the reassurance ladies.  You guys are the best!

Mandy0079, I sometimes do feel odd fluttering in my belly!! It started a few days ago...that might be it then :). I feel it mostly when I'm laying on my back.

Kim1989, how did it go with your cold? Did you get checked out by your doc?

i felt my ds move at 15 wks, it was light flutters and sometimes a light thump, by 16 to 17 weeks i could feel them outside my tummy and so could others, with this current pregnancy i felt very light flutters at 13 weeks but it was often, by 15 wks i felt them more frequently and now that am 17 wks i feel them much more and can feel them outside my tummy, but still not be alarmed if u havent felt it yet, though it sounds as you have but just didnt realize cus its your first pregnancy. CONGRATSS!!!!

from one girl with curves to another - take a deep breath - I have to remind myself of that constantly - my obgyn told me not to worry if I don't feel the baby until even 22 weeks - it all depends on the amount of belly fat, where the placenta is located, how the baby is laying, plus its our first so we don't know what we are feeling - I will be twenty weeks on Wednesday and I THINK I felt the baby yesterday morning - felt rather like pop bubbles in my tummy - very light, very faint, not even sure if it was the baby or not - the nurse at the doctor's office is a big girl and she didn't feel her baby until almost 24 weeks - don't worry about laying on your belly either - I know we aren't supposed to lay on our backs because the baby lays on arteries etc that supply important nutrients and oxygen to the baby - but from all that I have heard - laying on your belly isn't a problem as long as you are comfortable - I sleep on my belly every night - good luck with your little man and don't forget to stop worrying long enough to enjoy this!!!

I felt my first early on...about 15 weeks....and this second one even sooner...
The only reason i think i felt this one sooner was b/c i knew what to expect...as i thought it was gas with my first....
I think 'normal' is 17-20 weeks....
The first movements felt like popcorn to me....now they are full fledged kicks/punches!

I have read that if you are thicker than normal you will feel the moves after 20 weeks. I just can't wait to feel them. I geuss I see it as a sign that the baby is doing well and saying: "hey I'm here!!"
