When should I expect AF after D+C

I had a D+C four weeks ago today due to a missed miscarriage. I was exactly ten weeks pregnant when I found out, but at the ultrasound there was no heartbeat and the baby's measurements were about a week off. I am so looking forward to TTC again (after my first cycle), but I do not know when to expect it. The dr. said about 4-6 weeks from the D+C, however as of yesterday my hcg levels were still at 11 (not <5). Does anyone know if my body could be close to having a period even though I am not yet at a non-pregnant level -- or am I supposed to count 4-6 weeks from when my counts reach <5? Finally, to complicated the situation (smile) DH and I had sex on Mon. night without protection --is it possible to "ovulate" / "conceive" with hcg remaining in my system (one dr. said yes, one said no)? I feel something funky going on with my body, a little crampy, etc. -- but I think it is just AF on her way. Any thoughts or shared knowledge on all of this would be much appreciated.

If I remember correctly mine took 7 weeks and I was 10 weeks along when I had a d&e

I was 10weeks as well, and it took me 5weeks.

Hi! I was 13 weeks when I had my D&C and didn't get a period until 9 weeks after and my HCG Level to also SLOW to decrease.  You don't have to count 4-6 weeks from when you are at <5, it's just that NORMALLY, people are back to 0 between 4 -6 weeks but not all of us!!!  I was in your same situation, had a D&C in December 7, it took me until February 7 to get a period (so just a day shy of 9 weeks) and I got pregnant on March 10 (or around there!) and am currently almost 16 weeks pregnant. You cycles may be a little off when they come back as I shouldn't have gotten pregnant on March 10 but just ovulated early I guess!   I wish you the best of luck!

Congratulations! Thanks for the advice. It is so comforting to talk with others who can relate to what I am going through. Everyone says you are the most fertile after a miscarraige (miscarriage) or D+C -- if this is true, do you know if that is only true for those women whose levels have gone back to <5 -- or can a woman still be fertile (I guess that means ovulate) with hcg still remaining/circulating in her system from a prior pregnancy (like me :))? I ask this because of Monday night:) but also because I felt like I ovulated two weeks ago (two weeks post-D+C) and feel like my period is coming on...

Well, I had my D&C at 12wks5days on April 10th and my AF come one May 11th. So it was 4wks and a few days from the day I had the D&C. I was told by my DRs that you ovulate at least 2 weeks after a MC/D&C. So it maybe possible depending on when you ovulate after your D&C that you can get pregnant again. I was told to wait because you need to let your body heal so you dont have another MC.
