When should I expect a period after a DNC?

I had a DNC on 6-27 for excessive uterine bleeding/thick lining and the dr said everything went fine and I could ttc right away(been trying for 6 years) I am 29 and this will be my first.I did not even spot after the DNC and we have been ttc about twice a week since 7-04.I was curious if my period should have been this month or not as my dr did not go into any of that with me??I have noticed I get hurtburn at night which I have never had before but my mom says not to pull symptons out of the air!So I am hoping to be pregnant but don't want to do a hpt just yet(afraid it will show neg)..waiting to see if I start period any time soon!Any advice would be great!Thank you!

Hi!  I just wanted to let you know that I had a D&C on 6/27 also.  My ob said I should get af in about 5 weeks from the date of D&C.  I got mine on Wed, July 26 so, exactly 29 days later.  BUT, everyone is different some people may go 7 or 8 weeks before af.  Anyway, good luck to you.  Sticky baby dust.

I understand that taking an HPT when you aren't sure if it is really too early yet or not is frustrating, maybe you should calibrate your expectations to the length of your cycles before the  D&C and consider it "late" when that time period goes by.  It might still be too early, but at least it gives you a date to begin testing.  Good luck!

I wish I could do that but I have never had a regular period.I could go 6-8 months without having one then bleed for a month like this last time, which is why I had the D&C is what the ob told me.When the results came back from the vagianl u/s they said everything looked great except the lining of the uterus.I am so hoping that after 6 years of ttc that this D&C has fixed the problem.I read that some girls get pregnant right away after  D&C ,so I hope I am one of those girls! Thanks so much for the advice,I really appreciate it.

I would test 5 weeks from the date of the D/C with the $store test. That why it isnt a lot of money and also it is 5 weeks. If nothing a week after test again... Then if still nothing contact your doctor. I had 4 D/C and with each one I never went to 5 weeks without a period and I bleed little after them.

I had a D&C 6/21 and got my AF on 7/23  so pretty much right on track.  My only prob was that I hemmorighed on the 3rd day of my AF!!  So now ive been told to wait 3 months to ttc instead of right away......what a bummer!  I guess my body needs a rest.

hi i had a d&c done 6/28 and my surgery went well so my husband and I started to ttc right around the time that you did. Anyways all of last week I had heartburn, morning sickness, and the cramps that you get when you are pregnant. So I took the hpt and I got 1 positive I waited a few more days and I got a neg but I still had the symptoms. I called my doctors and I got a blood test done and it was neg. In my case I still had hormones left over from the last pregnancy and at the very end they surged and made feel pregnant again. They say every 2 days after a miscarriage the hormones should go down by half of the previous value. But I hope that you are pregnant and if not Im sure that you will concive soon.
