My second son is due to arrive in 5 weeks.  Our first son's name is Jake Thomas.

I like Tyler James--that is my oldest's name.  Tyler was the only name we could agree on and James is his dad's first name.

I think Tyler is a great name for a boy, and as he ages into a young man and older, he can go by Ty, which I've always thought sounds very masculine.

Yeah I would go for Tyler, yelling "Jake and John get in here!" may trip you up ; )

We have a Jonathan and no one calls him Jonny (Johnny) so that isn't a guaranteed nickname.

hmmm, Tyler is very common though and there's not very many John's with this generation. I say this b/c my name was #1 in the 70's.

As a teacher I can tell you that I am having more ans more tylers (and taylors) as the years go by.  Think it is getting too common.  Only had one John in 9 years!

I like Jonathan Mathew.. its not as old fashioned as John & it has a good flow to it!
