Why are the cycles getting shorter with each month?

Why are the cycles getting shorter with each month?

I'm asking this question for my sister (she turned 30 a couple of months ago).  She told me today that her cycles have been getting shorter and shorter for the past three months.  She had her period on 08/02, then 08/28 and she got her latest today (9/23).  Any reason why this might be hapenning?  Thank you for your input

These both seem to be 26 days to me...how long are her "normal" periods?

I know my cycle could vary from 26-29 days from month to month, but the majority would be 28 days -- I think this is very normal.

Is she trying to conceive?  Also, I think 26 days is still in the "normal" range, albeit on the shorter side.

Good luck.

What we were wondering about is why are they getting shorter and shorter with each month?  Like there is a pattern.

Like I said, the two months you stated were BOTH 26 days -- so from the info you gave, they are NOT getting shorter...

So HOW long were the cycles before that she has now gone down from?

Give us more info -- like 6-12 months -- so we can give you some feedback.

Good luck.

Her cycles have been anywhere from 29-31 days.  26 and shorter is not typical for her.

Okay...it is normal to fluctuate slightly month to month.

The best thing for her to do is call her gyno and maybe have them test her hormones...there really are so many factors (how long she's been menstruating, how many cycles have been "shorter", if she's under any stress, etc., etc., etc.).  I assume she is not on any type of bc pill since they fluctuate -- how about IUD?  IUD w/ hormone?

Also, is she trying to conceive?

The thing is, 26 days is still considered normal -- maybe not normal for her.  The trouble with shorter cycles (other than the annoyance) is that if you are trying to get pregnant, sometimes it means a shorter luteal phase and therefore less time for the fertilized egg to implant...hormonal testing on the right cycle days can help tell what's going on on this front.

And there may be other "issues" that are affecting it that they doc would want to sort out.  I always think it is best to put a call into the doc...my guess is that it's just becoming normal for her to fluctuate, but I'm not a doctor.

I wish you both the best and the answers you're looking for!
