Wondering if anyone has ever heard of a urine test coming up positive with only a HCG level of 2!! If there's anyone out there that can relate, please feel free to offer some comfort for a worried first timer!!

three faint positives on home tests but HCG level 2 i have missed 2 periods now and symptoms not going anywhere....

was on pill so no phantom and molar pregnancy's have higher HCG levels so i'm really scared and confused!!

first of all i think it is impossible for you to get  level of 2 on a home pregnancy test with urine because its either positive or negative. lines or it says + or - or pregnant or not pregnant depending on the test.. I would love to know which home test you took in order to be able to get a level 2 from a urine since anything below 5 with a blood test is considered negative so either you are on crack or you don't know what you are talking about.. please elaborate...the other women will tell you pretty much the same thing...

okay im confused now i re-read and are you saying you got 3 faint home pregnancy tests that were positive but when your blood was tested it was at 2? now if thats the case depending on when you took the blood test and the home tests...that would be one answer...if you took the blood test first and then the home tests then it could be positive...

Maybe when you took your HPT's your hcg was higher and it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. When you did the blood test maybe your hcg already returned to 2. I don't think you are on crack.

Anything less than a 5 is considered not pregnant.

Has an eptopic pregnancy been ruled out?

If you have missed 2 periods, and have a viable pregnancy, a blood test at this time would reveal numbers in the tens of thousands.  

When was your blood test?  When did you last take a HPT?  What did your doctor say and are they following up?

i had all three HPT which were positives (different brands) and my blood test was done 4 days later my doc has ruled out ectopic from his opinion from checking my tummy but he's sending me for ultrasound as he is just as baffled as i am!!

For the record I AM NOT on crack and have never been!!

the only things I can think of to explain your situation are as follows:

1) Chemical interference - if you took a drug that contained HCG (often found in fertility drugs) this could give a positive HPT and may have been out of your system by the time you had your blood drawn.  Since you were on the pill, this seems unlikely.

2) A chemical pregnancy- you may have been pregnant at either the time you took the HPT but miscarried shortly thereafter OR even  miscarried a few days earlier and the HPT could just detect HCG as the levels were dropping.  Did you experience any bleeding or cramping around the time of the tests?

3) Error at the lab.  This is uncommon but it can happen.

4) Ectopic pregnancy.

Have you taken a HPT recently to see whether  that still picks up a pregnancy?  The ultrasound will definitely tell you what is going on - Im glad your doctor is sending you in for one.

I had a quantative test the day before i would be 8 weeks but have had three positives previous to that in the days before i spoke to the doc. My partner called gp and went mad as i asked for a quantative test but was told it was just negative no level answer so his manager made him see me same day i went in for the appointment and suddenly he says that he did do the HCG quantative test and my result was 2. About 6 weeks ago i had the same test but i had only just started having symptoms (for a couple of days) and that was level 2 so to be honest i'm starting to think that maybe my doc just did the yes/no blood test and because i made a complaint and he didn't believe i was pregnant he just gave me the same results as last time thinking that i would drop it but i have never been pregnant before and really believed i was when i had the three positives since results from the blood test i just feel like everyone thinks that i'm mad the symptoms are persistant and do not feel like they are going anywhere so i am baffled!!

oh and if the blood test is indeed pos because i remember at 8 weeks i was at the er for bleeding and my hcg was like 34,000 something or 35,000 around there

Oh, because I was just thinking if you just got another recent + hpt then you should re-check your bloodwork. If you test  - then you are not pregnant.
